So today is 17th June.
You may not have ever heard of the significance of this day, but you'll almost certainly have visited Straße des 17. Juni in Berlin if you've done the tourist bits (pictured below).

As the weather in Berlin today was practically sunbathing level for February in this city (14°C) I went for a walk this evening to look at some local historic spots near(ish) my neighbourhood. This'll be a short thread. 🇩🇪🇪🇺
First I wandered down to Detmolder Straße on the border of Wilmersdorf.
At her small flat at number 11 Maria von Maltzan sheltered Jews who were on the run. Despite being on the Gestapo's radar she managed to smuggle many Jews via a goods train at night across the German border.

So this comes up a lot and I want to dedicate a bit of time as to why it is fallacious.
First of all, there is no democratic obligation to "respect the outcome of a vote". You can respect the system. You can acknowledge that this is the result. But you absolutely do not need to respect what the result was. You certainly are under no obligation to "unite".
