I have to say this morning's Twitter convo with a popular IDW figure really blew my mind. We have a number of mutual friends and though we've never met it's always been abundantly clear that he's one of the smartest people you'll ever come across.
(1/7) So I'm really struggling to wrap my head around why he's embracing and elevating this tired old strawman argument against knowledge, the scientific method, and the expertise we build as a result of it.

The typical (stereotypical) conspiracy theorist is someone who works in isolation from the topics into which he believes he has superior insight. [Thread] i.e., he considers himself an expert on geopolitics even though he has no experience in geopolitics whatsoever, and probably does not even personally know anybody involved in geopolitics.
