Attention all new neph fellows who are embarking on the next step in their career. If you chose nephrology, you have a passion for the field. Ignore the detractors and hear me out. Having been Chief Fellow at @OSUWexMed allow me to give you tips and tricks of the trade.
1. The learning curve is steep. The brutal truth: You will transition from your Internal Medicine comfort zone into being an 'intern' all over again. Do not panic. It is normal to feel overwhelmed the first month or so. Be patient and breathe in. Allow yourself time to adapt.
