Rishi Sunak held a green card while living in Downing St, declaring him a permanent resident of the US.
His wife Akhshata Murty has non-dom tax status. What does this mean for THEIR tax status and entitlement to vote (let alone hold public office)? 1/10

According to the IRS a green card holder is a ‘lawful permanent resident’ and ‘US tax resident for US income tax purposes’. Sunak gave up his green card in October 2021 after its existence was made public (not by HIM, obvs). He claimed he only kept it for ‘travel’ purposes. 2/10

Today at #BylinesCymru we’re launching a new page: the #AusterityAudit, created and maintained with much help from @NickShepley. The featured image is used by kind permission of @MartinRowson. It may be gruesome and violent, but then, so is austerity. 1/5

George Osborne and austerity, used with kind permission of the artist, Martin Rowson It’s appropriate that we launch this on Calan Gaeaf, All Saint’s Day, when we remember those we’ve lost. Since George Osborne and David Cameron launched their #austerity in 2010, it’s killed hundreds of thousands of people, creating deprivation and desperation for many more. 2/5 Odious tweet by David Cameron, 2013, saying they’re on the right track. People were already being killed by austerity

Red dress Dancing Woman: Malin Baker Bogue, an American. She was working as a lobbyist for Liberty Steel owner Sanjeev Gupta – one of the key figures in the Greensill Capital collapse – in 2019 when she volunteered to be Boris Johnson’s campaign Director of Special Projects. ImageImageImage Here she is on RTÉ on the occasion of Donald Trump’s first visit to the UK, making out that he had “graceful statesmanship”, and slagging off Jeremy Corbyn, Barack Obama, and her fellow guest Ken Livingstone. She was representing ‘Republicans Overseas’.

Also on the very same day:

Matt Hancock holds a press conference:

“Sadly, the news on the spread of the virus is not good … cases … rising once more … sadly, on average each day over the past week 420 deaths have been reported …”

“Everyone should minimise their social contact, because that’s how we can control the spread of this disease … 1 in 3 people don’t display any symptoms at all. But can still spread it.
We should never lose sight of our own role in this – our personal responsibility …”

A parliamentary debate on holding a Brexit debate will start shortly. Going to try live-tweeting it here.

bylines.cymru/politics-and-s… There seem to be 25ish people there. 13 backbenchers are down to speak. The petition calling for the inquiry is open until 18/5 and is at nearly 180,000 sigs.

“It is time that the people of this country were told the truth about Brexit, good or bad.”
