CBS News encountered technical difficulties that prevented the CBS Evening News from airing on the East Coast at 6:30 p.m. Here is tonight's broadcast ➡️ (THREAD) Treasury Sec. Steven Mnuchin & Fed Chair Jerome Powell warned Congress on Tuesday of permanent damage to the economy if a shutdown is extended.

“This is the biggest shock we have seen in living memory,” Powell said, suggesting more help may be needed.
