COFFEE CARTELS ON EDGE AS KENYA PREPARES GLOBAL ONLINE AUCTION

CS Sen. Mutahi Kagwe together with his counterpart from the @CoopsandMSMEs, CS @DrOparanya have confirmed that preparations are in the final stages

for Kenya’s first online coffee auction, set to open the @ncoffeeexchange to buyers worldwide.

“Marketing cannot be done the same way year after year and expect different results it’s madness,” said Kagwe.

1/4 The government has committed to subsidize a total of 500,000MT
of various types of fertilizer for the 2023 long rains. This will ensure that the

CS Mithika Linturi has launched phase two of the Kenya Integrated Agriculture Management Information System (KIAMIS) that will be crucial in the implementation of the Agriculture Transformation and Growth Strategy (ASTGS), 2019 – 2029. KIAMIS is a digital platform with various components that facilitate farmer registration and establish a national central farmers’ database.

Recently, @MyGovKe launched a rapid national farmers’ registration through the National Government Administration Officers.

Agriculture CS Hon Peter Munya has denounced the role of Capital Markets Authority (CMA)in licensing brokers as well as supervising the Nairobi Coffee Exchange(NCE)saying that it is not properly structured to oversee marketing of Coffee in the country. @StateHouseKe @PeterMunya "Management of the Nairobi auction already is being carried out by the coffee directorate and equally will be broadly undertaken by parliament. I am not aware of the Capital Markets (Coffee Exchange), Regulations 2020 which CMA is purpoted to be implementing ", said CS Munya.
