CIO UPDATE THREAD
The committee of CIO met (virtually) last week and reviewed our activity since March together with our plans for the next few months.

1. The COVID crisis clearly removed the need for us to monitor and respond to anti-Catholic marches past Catholic churches. We hold out the hope that the enforced ending of these marches will allow a period of reflection for those involved and a strengthening of the resolve of local authorities to ensure that the Catholic community is protected when we return to normality.

On Wednesday we put out a tweet suggesting that @EastAyrshire were being anti-Catholic by trying to remove the representation of the Catholic Church from their education committee. @MrMcEnaney disagreed with this comment and we indicated that we would return to it on Thursday. We are horrified - but not surprised - at the assault by two uniformed men from the 'Drumchapel Protestant Boys' Orange Flute Band on a young woman trying tocross the road on Saturday am in Glasgow. We assume this will be investigated by @policescotland and the culprits charged. This was not the only incident which the authorities should be looking at. Here the same band now in the Saltmarket plays a tune to which predictably their followers supplied the words - as usual they are delighting in the thought of being 'up to their knees in Fenian blood'.
