It's not 9pm yet but here's some thoughts, try to follow along:

In a few more years football as we know it will no longer have players who play a "position".

There will be no specialists; everyone must be as technical as a winger, creative as a #10 and energetic as an #8. A team with a #10 will be seen as a weakness because that's one less player than can defend or press as effectively as a modern #8.

The technical floor for players will be raised so God damn high. I cannot even comprehend the future of football.

I'm going to bed my head hurts

THREAD:

Man marking vs zonal marking, a combination of both, and when they are used.

CC: @TacticalPad In short, man marking has a player that sticks very tight to an opponent, while zonal marking has a player that covers the space around their position, loosely moving their position based on their opponent's movements.

THREAD:

Total Football and it's style of play.

CC: @TacticalPad Total Football, in short, is a tactical system in football in which any outfield player can take over the role of any other player in a team.

It requires a TEAM of very technical and intelligent players to pull off effectively. One, two or three players is not enough.

THREAD:

How to play out from the back & beat aggressive pressing teams.

CC: @TacticalPad PREFACE:

1) There is no "one" way to play out from the back. It is a style of play that comes from a set of principles and ideas.
2) I've decided to use a defending team that presses aggressively; not all teams will press as aggressively or in the same manner as the one I use.

THREAD:

How to "press" & how to use pressing traps/triggers to win the ball back.

CC: @TacticalPad PREFACE:

1) The defending team will be, for the most part, a 4-4-2 structure. Plenty of defensive structures exist, however I tend to use this one the most.
2) There are more pressing triggers & traps than the ones I mention; this is just to give an idea as to how they work.

How to beat teams that defend deep & in a "low block."

CC: @TacticalPad PREFACE:

The defending team in this thread will be using a 4-4-2. I've decided to use this shape because:
1) It's the one I, as a coach, have come up against most often when a team is defending.
2) It's the most common one I've seen used in leagues around the world.

THREAD:

The tactics Inter use when they playout through the back, enter the middle/final third and attack the wide areas.

I'll also be pointing out the importance of Barella and Bastoni. Both players are critical in Inter's transition and attacking phases.

CC: @TacticalPad First: how Inter create a numerical advantage in the build-up phase. Keepers are an obvious passing option in the modern game. However, Brozovic's importance is often overlooked. Him dropping deeper almost always draws an opposition man-marker.
