1/ Here's my take on the latest Uni 💩from Tory HQ.
I write this after a very successful career in HE in UK and abroad, and now retired as Associate Dean, Head of Business at a UK Business School.
First note that everything changed in 1992. Tories wanted 50%+ of all 18 year olds
2/ to go into HE, doubling intake.
But not doubling resources to deliver it.
Cutting back, in fact.
Along with this came student loans, & University fees of £3,000 a year for students
Student loans are a financial product, not a handout.
Tory friends made money on the deal.

1/ I've just tried my first @grind coffee. I bought some trial sets of beans after seeing their business ethics were very encouraging. Anyone Looza Fox hates can't be bad in my eyes. And Grind refused to advertise on GB crud.
If you are a coffee lover, my thoughts on the beans ⬇️
2/ I started with the "Dark Blend" from the description I was expecting a very dark roast, such as is typical in Hight Street chains. If you have only had their very black, oily, over-roasted to hide the cheapness of the espresso bean, then you are in for a treat.

1) We've had some medical stuff to sort out lately, so feelI am qualified to comment as a "customer" and payer into the UK system
a) Dentistry is privatised. You can't get an NHS Dentist. You pay through the nose. A filling is £250. A check-up inspection is £50
b) Unless you are
2) In peril of imminent death you don't get access to an NHS Hospital. You are guided to private firms you've never heard of, all under-resourced and might not see the same one again if your problem recurs. 3) Even if you are in immeidate peril you might not get to a hospital. A

1/ Published Govt fig for inflation is 9%
It does feel higher than that tbh., & for lower income families you might double that rate based on their spending patterns.
And the new Energy prices have yet to hit.
Part of the problem is Sterling, which has crashed even further since
2/ From typically £1 = €1.40 we are now at £1 = €1.1 - 30% fall
For £ vs the $, what was +/- £1 = $2 before the big crash, Tory Austerity reduced this to £1 = $1.60 and Brexit has hit it even harder to £1 = $1.25; about 40%.
Nearly everything we import has to be paid for in

1/In 1670 two Quakers charged with unlawful assembly were found not guilty at the Old Bailey by a jury. The judge then imprisoned the jury without food, water, heat, or light, saying "I will have a positive verdict or you'll starve for it"
2/ They refused to give way, and the judge fined them and returned them to prison, until released when the Lord Chief Justice interceded, saying that a judge "may try to open the eyes of jurors, but not to lead them by the nose".
