Those decrying this strong statement need a reality check. Protestors wrote Hamas is here. Do you know what that meant for our friends and family? Torture, murder, rape as execution, and children burned alive. Protestors referenced the Final Solution and portrayed us with horns This was not a peaceful protest - it was a hate rally embracing extreme mass violence by terrorists. Freedom of speech does not mean that you are free from consequences for your speech and we should all reject extremist rhetoric and terrorism.

Curious about why some people are opposing a quick ceasefire? Hamas has used every ceasefire agreement as an opportunity to plan for deadlier attacks. They are explicitely against long term peace agreements. After ceasefires, the capacity for extreme violence escalates. History matters here. Hamas just executed its deadliest and most depraved attack ever. A hollow ceasefire that would allow Hamas to potentially continue to build strength and launch another attack is a non starter for many. Remember 1400 Israelis are died, including babies.

My baby girl is 6 month old today. Everyday, I get notifications from daycare on what she is doing, how much she ate and napped, etc. Today, I got sent a photo of her in the park, holding a LGBTQ pride flag while being read a book celebrating Pride.

As a parent, I was thrilled. You may wonder why I am happy about this. Why would I want my tiny baby, who doesn't even have teeth yet and can't find her toes, to learn that it's okay to be gay? Why would I want her exposed to Pride? Isn't that too adult?
This is about love, acceptance, and harm reduction.

Here is the thing, Dave Chapelle wants to joke about antisemitism but he isn’t living with the consequences of it. Antisemitic incidences are at a historic high in America, but that doesn’t get mentioned. Probably cause it’s not actually funny. It’s scary as hell The commentary from Kyrie and Kanye didn’t happen in a vacuum. It is happening in a political climate where hate crimes and antisemitic incidents are at a historic high. Less than two weeks ago the entire state of NJ was warned by the FBI of credible threats against synagogues.

Today, @ADL has released our annual audit of antisemitic incidences. I am sad, but not at all shocked, that this is the highest number of incidents ADL has ever recorded, with a 34% increase from last year. Beyond the numbers, here are some frightening stories from the report: Five Hasidic Jewish men, ranging in age from 11 to 82, were attacked by a driver in a minivan who backed his car into the group. (April 2021, Brooklyn, NY)

This is a thread about what happened at a DC Public school this week. Third graders were told that the Holocaust happened because "Jews ruined Christmas" and asked to reenact scenes the gas chambers. I can't talk about this in the abstract, this is deeply personal to me.

On January 6th, my daughter’s preschool will be closed. This is the second time this school year her Jewish school has had to close because of Nazis and far right extremist marching in support of President Trump. We cannot allow this to be normalized. My daughter’s school is closed on Monday Wednesday because facists are marching against Democracy. They are marching to overthrow our government. They are marching to take away your vote, the vote I fought to mobilize and win. The vote Americans died for.

This is a thread of prominent black leaders condemning antisemitism and recent hate crimes against Jews.
While we need more voices calling for change, it is false that there has been total silence. Will update regularly and please feel free to add. We are stronger together. Thank you @Sifill_LDF

None of the candidates had planned on speaking/attending. The fact that advocates are so focused on claiming this is a win instead of amplifying the voices of Palestinians under attack by Hamas in Gaza, speaks volumes on their lack of integrity. The organizer of the protest against Hamas, Amin Abed, had to go into hiding. Journalists were detained and beaten. Protestors in Gaza deserve our attention and support in their fight for economic justice and civil liberties.

As people read about #holocaustrembranceday, I want you to take a moment and imagine what it is like to learn about the Holocaust for Jewish children. I learned about it at about 4 years old. It changes you. Jewish kids learn early about genocide. We learn our history, and we learn it early and often. It is deeply entwined with how we move through the world and how we relate to others.

If your just joining me, I stopped by an African Market after shul. A sweet old Ghanaian lady asked what I was cooking, and I said Jollof Rice for my Ghanaian husband. She asked if she could help. I said I would love that. She promptly emptied half my cart and refilled She then walked through her own recipe piece by piece. It took her nearly half an hour. I am attempting to cook it now. After frying several scotch bonnet peppers in screaming hot vegetable oil( she was very particular about this) every window in my house is open

A few thoughts on @TamikaDMallory's @breakfastclubam interview on @womensmarch which you should all watch: power1051.iheart.com/featured/break… Firstly, @TamikaDMallory deserves credit for how she talks about the anti-semitism. She is very clear about the need to address anti-semitism and fight it. She also makes it clear that anti-semitism poses a threat to POC, Jewish or not, in how it empowers White Nationalism.

I have read Linda Sarsour’s statement a few times now. It is dishonest, disingenuous and deeply unkind. The goal was not healing or learning - but deflection. I am unimpressed. This fight is about much more than these leaders and much more than the March. It is about how and when anti-oppression organizing principles are applied. It’s about fighting for justice movements that are working for equity both in policy and within themselves

A few thoughts on why Farrakhan has become a topic of conversation this week Jews grieve the loss of life at #TreeOfLifeSynagogue Firstly, many American Jews (including myself) feel that the justice movement hasn't stood in solidarity with us. While hate crimes against us have surged, we haven't seen an outpouring of support Many American Jews feel that threats to us weren't taken seriously.

A thread on on anti-semitism and @ShaunKing Firstly, I think it is totally plausible that the blockings happened by accident, and I commend Shaun King for undoing them. He experiences an enormous amount of hatred and vitriol and trolling and spam with his large following, so I'll take him at his word this was an accident.
