1) Seeing a number of misleading or downright false tweets claiming the “Out of Africa” model of human evolutionary history has been discredited or is completely wrong. I believe this is a scientific racism talking point, so a short 🧵to explain why Africa is still NB. Image 2) First, what is “Out of Africa”? It’s a popular term for the RAO (Recent African Origin) model which holds that derived (or “modern”) H. sapiens evolved in Africa during the past 500,000 yrs & spread from there throughout the world (see Stringer 2022).
