This is a story about the grooming, rape and abuse of children in Barrow, Cumbria. Of girls sometimes still in their school uniform.
A month ago, three brothers were convicted of a raft of serious sexual offences against children across Barrow, and in Leeds. (1/4)
Tonight we can reveal that police knew some of what was happening in Barrow as far back as 2009.
Ellie Reynolds identified one of the brothers to police as her alleged abuser six years ago but her case never got to court. (2/4)

Exclusive: Channel 4 News has seen a letter signed by Black Labour MPs calling on Sir Keir Starmer to take "urgent action" on anti-Black racism in the party following the Forde report.
"Despite our Party’s claims to be anti-racist [...] we, our members and supporters are losing faith in the ability and commitment of this leadership to tackle the issues raised in the Forde report, and we demand urgent action,” the letter reads.

Channel 4 News has found at least nine cameras made by Chinese CCTV manufacturer Hikvision on the Manchester base of the UK’s intelligence, cyber and security agency GCHQ.
The cameras were found at Heron House - which GCHQ describes as its “secure site in the North West”.

Parents of sexually abused children say too often they are not getting enough support.
Cath Pickles, whose daughter Sarah was abused, has set up a charity in a bid to change that.
“We built a service we wished we received.”
Cath’s charity Restitute, which helps parents and carers supporting sexual abuse survivors, received £300,000 of funding from the Home Office to expand it across the country.
Cath and Sarah have waived their right to anonymity.

Exclusive: Conservative MP Conor Burns was the subject of a sexual harassment complaint five years before he was sacked as a minister for alleged inappropriate behaviour at the Tory Party Conference, Channel 4 News can reveal.
Mr. Burns strenuously denies these allegations.
Mr Burns vigorously denies the 2017 allegations saying that they are “without merit” and were withdrawn “almost immediately” before an investigation even took place.
He told us the complaint was never put to him and that it was made by a “bad faith actor motivated by malice”.

The NHS is facing a shortage of drugs, including anti-depressants and penicillin.
The number of drugs in short supply has risen by 200% in the last 12 months to 152, according to figures seen by Channel 4 News.
Data shared with Channel 4 News estimates the NHS has spent nearly £136m more than it normally would in the last 12 months, with more than £107m of that amount being spent since April 2022.

An investigation by @Channel4News can reveal over 1,300 violations of the rules brought in to deal with water pollution from farming - and yet not a single prosecution.
Our Freedom of information request also shows there have been fewer than 3,000 farm inspections by the Environment Agency since new rules to protect England's water quality came into force in 2018.
At that rate it would take well over a century to check every farm in England.

At least a million CCTV cameras supplied by a Chinese state-owned company are installed in the UK.
Channel 4 News can reveal the government has turned down a request to meet the company amid security concerns, with reports of some cameras trying to connect to Chinese servers.
Hikvision is one of the largest CCTV camera producers in the world, owning almost a third of the global market and producing over 36 million cameras a year.
The Police Federation is one of many UK public bodies to have installed the cameras in their buildings, we have learned.

Exclusive: Ex-Chancellor Rishi Sunak is the Conservative Party members’ favourite to succeed Boris Johnson, an Opinium poll for Channel 4 News has found.
However, a majority of Conservative members would have preferred Mr Johnson to remain as leader, the poll also found.
Of the 493 Tory Party members polled, 25% said they would choose Rishi Sunak as the new party leader.
Foreign Secretary Liz Truss was supported by 21%, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace by 12% and Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi by 6% of members polled.

Leading figures from large corporations, including oil giant BP, are members of an influential, but almost entirely unaccountable, group advising the British Museum in secretive meetings, Channel 4 News can reveal.
Campaigners have called for the museum to be more transparent.
The Chairman’s Advisory Group (CAG) consists of around 30 business leaders who have met to discuss controversial issues the British Museum has faced, including repatriation of artefacts, a Freedom of Information request sent by campaign group Culture Unstained has found.
