Another Visa Sub-classes have been introduced to replace the 489, to commence from November 2019. This change is to encourage more migrants to move to the regions.

People who already hold a 489 or have applied for a 489 are going to be unaffected by the changes. The changes include
- 5 yr provisional visas instead of the current 4 yrs (491/494) become eligible for the PR after 3 years
Singles get 10 points or couples with defacto Australian citizens or PR partners get 10 points

If all requirements are met all you need to do is go to the state's website and fill out the *Expression of Interest form* known as EOI form. Just like we normally have cut off mark in university admission, that's how they also have minimum points required for you to enter the pool.

States in Australia

New South Wales

Victoria

Queensland

South Australia

Tasmania

So after calculating your potential points, the next thing you need to do is choose a state and the occupation you wish to apply/assess for. First thing you need to do is check their occupation list and see if your preferred or chosen occupation is on the list. If you can't find the exact occupation, look for something similar.

Skills assessment costs $800 AUD (Australian dollars), which is about 240k*

Which is why you need to be meticulous in doing this, providing the relevant documents, talking with whomever you're using their contact details as your employer, ensure they check their mail regularly.. If possible they should let you know when they receive the mail and you be with them while they're responding to the email and giving details of your duties.
Their response must not be conflicting or in contrast with what you have in your resume'.

......The affidavit is only to show proof that your salary was paid by hand/cash, not for the job.

But where you can provide all the above mentioned, you don't have a problem. There's another assessment called TRADE TEST For people who have what we know as "handwork" i.e Craftsmen and artisans. There's a body that is responsible for this. But you need to show proof of your apprenticeship/training and also work experience in the craft.

employment letter, pay slip or bank statement showing your salary, tax papers if possible, your resume' reference letter with correspondence address with which they can contact your employer, etc. These documents are to be submitted to an assessment body that will look at them and then give you either a negative or positive assessment.

Price from 70k, last time I checked, heard it's up to 90k now, don't know how true. Please check their website.
Result comes out in about 1-2 weeks. PTE*
*Computer based
* Writing, Reading, Listening, Speaking. The advantage is that you have several areas to be tested and scored in each of the session, with opportunity to make up for any area you didn't perform well.
* Price is 65k. Less than IELTS.

Then our last one of interest is Sub class 489:

Regional nomination:

Similar to 190, except that you are nominated by a region, not a state. In regional nomination, the region adds 15 points to whatever is your point for you to enter the pool. 489 Visa is not a PR Visa but a 4 year Visa.
You are eligible to apply for PR after 2 years of living in the region.

Now the next thing we will be looking at is how do you get your points?

Continuing the thread on AUSTRALIA PERMANENT RESIDENCY SKILLED MIGRATION Program...

Now we'll continue from the Visa sub classes and how you can start the process.

Australia has over 100 Visa sub classes, but will be looking at just 3 of them. Sub class 189, 190, and 489

189 know as independent nomination

190 is the state nomination, and 489 is the regional nomination.

I'll explain these one after the other.

The Australian migration program is a skill based, points tested system, where you are eligible based on the points you score in certain areas.
