Warning, mega-thread incoming: I’ve been giving thought to the discussion of the satanic display which was set up in Mississippi, then later torn down by a professing Christian. A lot of voices have clamored on this matter, so, aside from a couple of comments, I didn’t enter 1/ too much into the fray. Primarily, because I really didn’t have a firm opinion on the matter as there was much to give thought to. So, I decided to put fingers to keys and explain where I am with this. First off, this display was erected for one reason only, to antagonize 2/

This right here. 👇🏻@megbasham is spot on. It is very clear now that there is a vast difference between being "conservative" (a socio-political ideology with very little meaning anymore) and being a truly born-again Christian. One seeks a path to temporal victory to achieve its 1/ socio-political goals for personal gain (which are increasingly divorced from any objective standard) and the other seeks to conform itself to God's standard for His glory alone. While there are some ideological points that cross paths between the two, their core beliefs and 2/

The vile wickedness occurring in our nation is not simply that it is being ruled by evil leaders (though that certainly is happening) but that the people of the nation desire and want wicked rulers and evil laws to be ruled by. Like those who sit under false teachers do so 1/ because they desire to hear those false teachings, the people of our land desire wickedness and evil. Thus, they heap up for themselves wicked rulers who will satiate their lust for sin. We can change laws and elect rulers who may well do justly for a time but this does not 2/

I get the feeling that when we rightly identified BigEva’s obsession with being winsome and nuanced about EVERYTHING, to the point where you could never say anything definitive without risking “harming your witness,” we did hard right overcorrection into an equally horrible 1/ ditch. Instead of finding a biblical balance, we decided that any form of nuance was equivalent to compromise at the worst levels possible. We saw nuance and winsomeness in any form as weakness that must be rejected wholeheartedly. We took up the places in Scripture where 2/

It has been said by @HwsEleutheroi on many occasions that most Christians' knowledge of church history starts with Billy Graham and no earlier. That is something that really needs to change. Along with knowing why we believe what we believe about doctrine and practice from 1/ Scripture, how that belief developed over time is proving to be quite necessary as of late. We have both Scripture and 2,000 years of church history which shows clearly what Christians believe and how they should live. Yet, modern culture wants to scream "fascist!" when a 2/

🧵In recent weeks, I’ve come to something of a realization that may be useful for others. For a while now, we have all been enamored (self included) with those who are “based,” as the colloquially saying goes. Those who can smack down hard on current cultural trends with a 1/ dose of biblical and/or sociology-political truth. We love a good hardcore takedown. Here’s the problem though, “based” smackdowns can certainly have their time and place but they ought not to be the sole means by which we communicate truth. As Christians, we are called to be 2/

Just my two cents on the government possibly banning gas stoves: stop and ask yourself why the government wants to consider doing this. Be rest assured it has nothing to do with preventing possible respiratory issues. Natural gas is a relatively cheap and reliable energy 1/ source. It provides heat and cooking ability to literally millions of homes and businesses. It allows a certain amount of independence because it is not provided directly by the government and allows Americans to live in relative comfort by providing heat, hot water, the 2/

To the argument, "well, God can use [fill in the blank] to save people. I mean, He used [fill in the blank example from the Bible], so He can use this," let me push back on you a bit: what is your dividing line that says "oh no, we definitely cannot say or use THAT to draw 1/ people to Jesus"? What determines what you will or will not use in your efforts to bring the lost to Christ? Would it be acceptable to leave out what Christ clearly commanded "Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand" (Matt. 3:2)? Would you be OK with denying Christ is God to 2/

Every time a new Christian fad comes around (i.e., The Chosen) numerous biblically sound Christians will raise concerns over less than biblical, sub-biblical, or outright unbiblical issues with the fad. And what is evangelicalism’s response? “Oh, but it’s bringing people to 1/ Jesus!” Really, that’s your excuse? I’m sorry, but where is there anything in Scripture that warrants Christians to be so lazy that they farm out their responsibility to proclaim the gospel to entities that are more concerned with popularity and schmoozing the world? 2/

As the latest debate over free speech continues on social media, I see a trend that has been and continues to make itself present. Persons who have no love for God or His Word have made themselves the gatekeepers of what is to be called “Christian.” Routinely, when Christians 1/ confess orthodox beliefs held for 2,000 years, the unregenerate cry out, “You’re speaking hate! You don’t love! You’re not a Christian!” These are people who reject the inspiration, inerrancy, infallibility, and sufficiency of the Scriptures. They derive their belief from 2/

Some post-Election Day thoughts: first, and I am only speaking for myself, this election emphasized to me just how easily my joy is robbed by my circumstances. I went to bed with no info on my state results. I awoke a couple of hours later for a bathroom run and decided to 1/ check if the results were up yet. The numbers were not encouraging at the time. It bothered me, a bit too much. I could not sleep and prayed, a lot. I was forced to confess to the Lord I was not trusting in Him as I ought because I was not seeing the results I wanted. I was 2/

Since the leftists want to scream "hypocrisy!" while biblical Christians are pointing out Trump associating with Copeland is problematic, let me clear up a few things: during 2016, there were a great many of us who not only pointed out Trump's many character issues, some of 1/ us encouraged Christians to NOT vote for him. However, we did not bind consciences with regard to Trump and allowed people to make the vote they felt most appropriate (sadly, that cannot be said of all Christians, i.e. David French, who has never forgiven Christians for making 2/

Some thoughts on #PandemicAmnesty: Amnesty, as @D_B_Harrison said in a comment, is a pardoning by an offended party (predominantly one in official authority) for an offense committed by another. It means someone did something wrong (typically criminal in nature) and the one 1/ authority pardons the guilty party. Forgiveness is similar in that it is giving of grace toward one who hurts or offends you. Instead of holding the offense against the person indefinitely, you graciously forgive the person, remembering the harm no more. However, in both 2/

Here is the problem with French, Oster, and the others: they actively engaged in verbal attacks and rhetoric against people who opposed tyrannical mandates. And while Oster wants to claim victim status for being attacked for wanting schools reopened, she advocated for vaccine 1/ mandates that prevented people from working, traveling, shopping, etc. French regularly engaged in rhetoric that accused Christians of not loving their neighbors by doing the very things Oster now admits were not helpful at all. They want to hide behind “we were all in the 2/

When I look at this uniform, I think back to one of the most critical lessons in leadership I have ever learned. I was nowhere near the best combat leader the Army Guard ever commissioned. If I could go back, there is A LOT I would change. But I learned this, that I was a 1/ success if my men were a success. This meant it was my job to make sure they could do their job. Making sure they got the training they needed. Standing up for them. Taking them to task if they failed. Serving them as their leader, not tyrannically demanding obeisance. Respect 2/

Seriously? #PandemicAmnesty? Some people got it right because the were “lucky”? There was misinformation on all sides? Let’s clear this up a bit. A lot of people, from the very beginning, noted that masking was never a good idea because we’ve 1/
theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/… known the science from times past. We never had people mask up in cold and flu season because wearing masks DO NOT prevent wearers from getting sick. We know, from science, that the issue was always SYMPTOMATIC, not ASYMPTOMATIC, persons. Therefore, we knew, from science, if 2/

Hello, everyone. You know it is said that there can too much of a good thing. In my case, that is certainly becoming true. I needed to take a break for a few days to give myself a minute to think. After the latest round of "dog-pile on Chris with elf jokes," I needed to step 1/ away. I know there is no one here that intends to be hurtful or mean, I know this is all meant in fun. But here's the thing, if your notifications were to melt down regularly, not because you posted something helpful or insightful, but because once again everyone wanted to 2/

You know, it’s a funny thing, there are no end of progressives who complain that literature & art of old is “too white” or “too male.” But when they have the opportunity to make something new, something that reflects what they want, what do they do? Steal from the very things 1/ they hate. They take the stories they say are seriously problematic and then try to remake it in their image. Why? Because they don’t want to really make new art, new literature, new entertainment. That takes work. That takes dedication. That takes time. And they don’t want to 2/
