In a much-discussed @AEI blog post on the impact of work requirements, the authors state:

"Research has shown that work requirements can increase employment levels, which benefits individuals & families."

Let's talk about the *kids* in these families.
aei.org/opportunity-so… Matt Darling (@besttrousers) nicely critiqued the evidence on the impact of work requirements on parents' employment. While important, this isn't *the* most critical question. To me, its: what are the potential unintended consequences for low-income kids?

I'm often asked by policymakers, analysts, advocates and others where they can find stylized facts about the child care market. Here's my attempt to provide some of that information.

I'm calling it: The Child Care Market, in 14 Charts and Tables.

I hope this is helpful. The pandemic was hard on the child care industry, and its effects remain doggedly intact. @equitablegrowth's @Sam_C_Abbott shows that while employment overall has returned to its pre-COVID level, the child care industry is still short ~84,400 workers.
