I stand with families & teachers in calling on the Governor to prioritize the health & safety of Arizona’s children & education professionals when considering the reopening of our schools. It's unacceptable to simply choose an arbitrary date to resume in-person instruction. 1/10 Instead, we must evaluate public health data, ensure Arizona has critical COVID-19 mitigation strategies in place and commit to allocating adequate resources to provide quality instruction and necessary safety measures. 2/10

This is my 27th year as a teacher. I have bachelor's and master's degrees. But I make less money than my 25 year old son, whose job only requires a bachelor's degree. I've been teaching for longer than he's been alive, but he makes more. I'm telling you this not to cast resentment on my son or on his job (I'm super proud of him!!!), but because folks need to understand how tough it is to stay in teaching.
