1/ I'm retiring from podcasting after 5 years. I want to share my story about growing two successful Bitcoin podcasts that changed my life and even led to me becoming a cofounder of @SwanBitcoin.

I've also pulled out dozens of my favorite episodes for you - here's my journey: 2/ In early 2018, I started a podcast called Citizen Bitcoin with my friend Tommy. We began sharing our (limited) knowledge and thoughts about Bitcoin. By 2019, I was confident enough to host conversations with the Bitcoiners who had been my teachers for over two years.

1/ HODL FOMO = Escape Velocity

The 2017 run was driven by short term retail and trader speculation, a fear of missing out on fiat gainz.

This run will be dominated by fear of missing out on adoption of bitcoin as a reserve asset, by individuals, corporations, and even nations. 2/ As opposed to speculative FOMO, the adoption of bitcoin as a reserve asset is an intentional decision to hold it for the long term, aka HODL.

While we saw speculative FOMO during the last bull run, during this run we are seeing the beginnings of HODL FOMO.

The Declaration of Monetary Independence

In Consensus of the undersigned, April 18, 2020.

In unanimous Declaration of the decentralized Nodes of Bitcoin, When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for people to dissolve the Monetary bands which have connected them with another, and to assume the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Natural Money, and of human nature, entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to separation.

1/ Why are "toxic" bitcoiners giving @balajis such a hard time about @nakamoto?

What's the harm in trying to bring altcoiners and bitcoiners together in a civilized discussion as a reaction to all the toxic drama of Bitcoin and Crypto Twitter?

🧵👇 2/ Good questions!

First understand the context in which we are debating. There is so much at stake here. Taking money back from Central Bankers is the most important fight happening right now. The potential good for humanity is orders of magnitude more than any other effort.

1/ Bitcoin is going to fundamentally change human individuals and human society.

A brief thread.👇🏽 2/ Bitcoin has changed my life. I have become more cognizant of saving and more thoughtful about my future and my present. I have become more disciplined and grown healthier and more productive because of that discipline. I have more self respect because of all these.

1/ ⚡️🎙️⚡️ Michael Goldstein, @bitstein, joined me on the Citizen Bitcoin podcast today to consider the art of internet trolling, bitcoin memetics, Austrian economics, global macroeconomics, bitcoin's future and we dive into another rabbit hole that he’s known for: carnivory. 2/ Me: "What’s a bitcoin future look like in 50 years?"

Bitstein: "Moon colonies. Grazing cattle all across the American West. Thorium reactors dotting the planet with bitcoin citadels having grown into a fine patchwork of decentralized political experimentation."

Give me bitcoin, or give me death. "Common sense will tell us, that
the power which hath endeavoured to subdue us, is of all others, the

1/ With all this talk about Ethereum node nightmares, I thought I'd write up a brief thread about my experience with running bitcoin nodes.

In early 2018 I bought an ACEPC T11 ($120) and a 2.5" SATA 7200 RPM 1 TB Western Digital WD Black HDD ($66) from Amazon. 2/ I installed Linux, Bitcoin Core and LND, opened channels and bought a some stickers.

The ACEPC T11 comes with Windows 10 preinstalled on an internal SD. I wanted to try out @pierre_rochard's Node Launcher so I fired up Windows, installed it and am syncing from genesis now.

1/ To be a "good citizen" of bitcoin you need to take personal responsibility for your education. There is so much to learn. Computer science, networking, economics, game theory, cryptography, security and much more. We were overwhelmed when we started, too. Still are. 2/ But we're fascinated. And we know that bitcoin education is already and will only become more important. With Citizen Bitcoin we are taking the leap from learn to teach.
