They seem to suggest that a culture is real only if the origins are opaque (white ethnic identities, African tribes) or if it was forced on a group (Blackness on sundry African tribes).

But what if a child was born to white supremacist parents? Their culture is fake because white culture isn't real like Irish culture. It was invented by racists and/or it encompasses cultural traits that can be shared by non-whites. So even if you're born into a culture and believe it's real, it can still be fake and therefore not a source of pride.
