Emmanuel Quivers, pioneer of Stockton, arrived in California in 1849. A man held in great esteem, a trailblazer in the fight for equality and a notable speaker. Grandson of a signer of the Declaration of Independence and nephew to a President. #TBThursday #BlackHistoryMonth 1/5 Known for his rousing speeches, he used his prominence to speak out against testimony laws and fight for the right for his children to attend public schools.
