This group of deserve a LOT of love.⁣
#Pembrokeshire Sanctuary group formed as a rapid response to the hundreds of people being held in the woefully inadequate Penally Barracks.⁣

The local community were horrified. 150+ people came together to offer support & friendship
1/🧵 They organised distributions of supplies, ran classes, befriending sessions, sports & wellbeing trips & coordinated a bike scheme.⁣

In March last year Penally barracks finally closed.⁣
⁣
The @ukhomeoffice wanted hostility, but this community made sure that love won.⁣

This is my second Christmas in the UK & the first I'm looking forward to 🎄

This year I am happy. I am happy because I no longer have nightmares about crossing the sea, forests & borders.

I'm happy because I finally feel safe.

THREAD 1/4 I am happy because I live with a family that loves me like their own child.

I am happy because my best friend also lives with us and is not alone in the hotel like last year.

I am happy because I live with my girlfriend after years of waiting.
