Colorado’s first 2022 gubernatorial debate between Gov. Jared Polis and challenger Heidi Ganahl on Wednesday was more defined by attacks than by substance.

Here are our four takeaways:

coloradosun.com/2022/09/29/hei… 1. Fentanyl & crime

Ganahl criticized Polis for signing a 2019 bill that made it a misdemeanor to have up to 4 grams of fentanyl, enough to kill thousands.

The legislature this year increased penalties for dealers & made it a felony to possess 1+ grams.

The 18-year-old died in February while listening to music in bed. Next to him were little blue pills and rectangular-shaped white ones. Another 18-year-old died less than three days later.

Two young men, including a CU Boulder student, died separately on the same day in June.

A second CU student died in August three days before the start of his senior year.

Hey there, Colorado. You may have seen unverified reports of a 15-year-old dying after receiving a COVID vaccine.

Context is really important when looking at vaccine data — especially reports of deaths, so here’s how it works. 👇 The federal government collects data using the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (or VAERS). Anybody can make a report — doctors and nurses, but also the people who received the vaccine or their family members.
