Hamas behaviour in recent days was calculated to keep the Israeli population stirred up, to force a continuation of the conflict:
- the obscene treatment of hostages during handover
- the sadistic exploitation of the iconic Bibas family
- the terror attack in Jerusalem Their aim is to isolate Israel diplomatically. The hostage truce had the same intent - play for time, narrow Israel's window of opportunity, wait for Western governments to turn.

In that sense, they are playing the same game as Putin, outlast Western determination
