Evidence 1: The Mitanni treaty (circa 1380 BCE), found in Bogazköy, Turkey. It is a peace agreement between the Hittite king Suppiluliuma I and the Mitanni king Shattiwaza.

The treaty is famous for invoking several deities as divine witnesses to ensure the oath was kept. The deitis of Hindu Rig Veda: Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Nasatya.

Mitanni records also use Sanskrit numerals such as aika (one), tri (three), and sapta (seven).

(Now present in British Museum) Evidence 2: The Kikkuli Text (circa1400 BCE) attributed to Kikkuli—a horse trainer in the Mitanni Kingdom.

The World’s oldest horse training manual outlines a detailed 184-day training program for chariot horses, including interval training, feeding, and care and uses Sanskritic terms for training cycles

When foreign invaders couldn’t destroy Dharma through swords, they attacked the Hindu mind. The goal wasn’t to just rule the land, it was to make Hindus ashamed of their own identity. British colonizers realized that Sanatana Dharma couldn’t be defeated militarily, its roots were too deep, its philosophy too vast. So they used a quieter weapon: education and shame.

THE COLONIAL STRATEGY: MAKE THE NATIVE HATE HIMSELF

In 1835, Thomas Babington Macaulay wrote in his infamous “Minute on Education”:

“We must create a class of persons Indian in blood and colour, but English in taste, in opinions, in morals, and in intellect.”

That was the beginning of mental colonization. The traditional Gurukula system, where Dharma, Sanskrit, philosophy, and spiritual science were taught, was dismantled.

Instead, British schools taught:
• Your gods are myths.
• Your rituals are superstitions.
• Your culture is backward.
• Your language is primitive.

The result? An entire generation began to believe that the path of their ancestors was “uncivilized.”

When you repeat a lie long enough, the mind begins to accept it.

For centuries, Hindus were told their worship, from lighting a diya to applying tilak, was meaningless.

They mocked our traditions in textbooks, churches, and later, media. They called Sanskrit a “dead language”, cow worship “absurd”, fasting “unscientific,” and astrology “blind faith.”

But ironically, the same West that mocked fasting now promotes intermittent fasting.

The same West that ridiculed yoga now calls it mindfulness therapy.

The same rituals that were once “superstition” are now rebranded as spiritual wellness. They took our wisdom, stripped it of Sanskrit, and sold it back to us, while making us feel guilty for practicing it. THE WEAPON OF SHAME

Once guilt enters a person’s faith, devotion loses power. That’s exactly what happened to Hindus. They began to hide their tilaks before interviews.

They stopped wearing dhoti or saree in temples abroad.

They whispered “Jai Shri Ram” instead of chanting it proudly.

They were brainwashed to believe that being “modern” meant being less Hindu.

That rituals were just old customs, not gateways to higher consciousness.

But Dharma doesn’t need modernization, it only needs remembrance.
