TOP 10 QUESTIONS TO ASK IN AN INTERVIEW!

If you aren't asking questions in your interview you are losing out on opportunities.

Instead of going blank when they ask "Do you have any questions for me?" use this to get some ideas on how you can stand out as a candidate. Most hiring managers agree that a candidate that DOESN'T ask questions in an interview may not have an actual interest in the role and is a red flag.

Maybe these questions can give you an idea of what you can possibly ask at your next interview!

In previous years if a software developer just coughed and the cough sounded like the word JavaScript they found themselves speaking to a recruiter. The market was heavily in favor of developers.

⬇️ The current market isn't that. The current market for developers is one where developers actually have to market and advocate for themselves and their skillsets.

IT IS THE VERY FIRST LINE OF HIRING!
Who is the first line of hiring for any role?
Recruiters!

Beginners in tech have a big issue with certificate chasing. This is a bigger item when you start looking internationally.

The reality is there are only a handful of certs, AT BEST, that actually hold their weight

Most of the time it is the KNOWLEDGE you learn that opens doors No employer is really impressed that you went on Udemy and got that $9.99 certificate that you may have completed the course on or just pressed all of the ✅ checkboxes to get it.

Finally got that job interview?
Here is a game plan to prepare! 1. Search the company website AND their social media pages. This is the stuff they WANT people to know.

Maybe they discuss community work they are doing, new initiatives, etc.

Work that into conversation especially if it is something you align with.

Saw a thread that talked about how writing typescript sucked the joy out of writing Javascript.

Many of the replies seemed as if it came from people that tried typescript for 10 minutes and switched back or making an assumption without trying it.

For me, it was a game changer. Joining my current company, the codebase is pretty massive but it being written in typescript, getting familiar with it was actually one of the easier experiences I have had!

The readability and understanding with what everything does is increased!

Build Errors at compilation!

"I can't get a job"
This isn't against the person that wrote this but it is to show others how often this comment is made without a lot of the essentials being done.

Your preparation makes way for your destination.
🧵 You can't have a bare profile, a super basic portfolio of projects, and a very blank github and expect employers to run to you with job offers.

YOU ARE AN INVESTMENT, a risky one at that. Your objective is to DERISK yourself as an investment. You need to prove you have the skill

"WILL DEVELOPER JOBS BE AUTOMATED AWAY?"
Yes, but let me explain... As developers, we are constantly automating tasks. Tasks that are too manual, tasks that are uninteresting, or tasks that we really just don't want to do! It only makes sense that we will automate many things that devs currently do.

BUT

Ideas for projects you should make to showcase your technical skillset in an interview: 1. Medication tracker that tracks the medication taken by at risk patients to reduce the risks of over medicating or forgetting to take medicine that day.

Create an alert reminder to take meds if a portion of the day has passed and the medicine hasn't been taken yet.

Clone projects are AWESOME projects to learn from but I would NOT use them as projects to try and get hired.
Here's why: 1. Most people will think "They followed a YouTube tutorial to make this" and the reality is, you aren't really solving a problem with that project.

You can learn great concepts building it, but take those concepts and implement it in your own project.
