Okay it’s been a full month and this situation still isn’t resolved, and it sucks for you to just be completely in the dark and it’s pretty obvious something is up and people are asking what’s going on, so here is my side of the story 🧵
Firstly, there’s kind of two forces at work here. One is that elementary received a large anonymous donation a couple years back as you may remember. Another is that sales have really struggled since COVID hit and haven’t really recovered

Conservatives act like they just be handing out vaginas to anybody who wants one. As an adult woman whose insurance covers transgender care (not all insurance does),
I had to have 2 independent psychiatrists sign off before I could start hormones. Neither of which was my normal therapist. This took about 2 months. I also have regular lab tests to confirm it’s safe. And changes are slooooooow

Happy 6 months to me! Had my check in with my doctor yesterday and she’s recommending me for permanent facial hair removal 🎉
Some other notes about this stage of my transition: hormone levels are in normal female ranges. Testosterone is at 20 ng/dL and Estrogen is at 117 pg/mL. My dosage has been 50mg spiro and 4mg estradiol. This is considered a low anti-androgen dose which is great on my kidneys etc

Something that’s very confusing for my cis friends is boymoding aka, “wait I thought you were a girl now, but you look exactly the same as before. What do?” I get it! It is confusing and this is going to be different for every person but for me 🧵
Boymoding is convenient because I am still very early in my transition. Presenting femme doesn’t just involve clothes and makeup for me, but it also involves a lot of hair removal, shape wear, and even prosthetics. My body hasn’t caught up with things quite yet

Activism is important and I believe there is at least some moral imperative to make a bare minimum effort with your participation in the market
But, 🧵
It is impossible to be an activist about every single choice you make in the marketplace 100% of the time. Every thing you buy exploited someone or funded lobbying that marginalized people or contributed to the climate crisis or caused some kind of suffering some way somehow

Alright so I just got off the phone with my immediate family to tell them about the big news I have. When I said I was working on a project, I wasn’t entirely truthful! But I really hope I have your support through it because it’s extremely impactful for me 🧵
I was born with a pretty severe hormone imbalance that caused some pretty harsh and irreversible changes during puberty. It’s been a struggle sometimes to live with, even though most people don’t even see it

I think some Linux users get frustrated because they’re very attached to this idea of a software distribution and they don’t want to accept the App Store model that mainstream operating systems use: 🧵
Traditionally a Linux distribution exists to package and distribute third-party software. Distribution maintainers aren’t typically the same people writing the software they distribute. They are software publishers as opposed to authors
