🧵 Buckle up for an insane story in Israel today

Netanyahu’s government wanted to give 1.09 billion shekels to unregulated ultra-Orthodox schools (under the patronage of the ultra-Orthodox parties, his allies) that don’t teach math, science, etc. – which is legally problematic. Image They ram this funding through the Finance Committee, and then Opposition Leader @YairLapid and @YeshAtidEnglish sue to block the transfer of the funds. The Supreme Court issues an injunction freezing transferring the funds and calls a hearing for today.
