Thinking about Tristan and Isolde. I'm reading the 1900 novel-version by Joseph Bédier with my year two students in Swedish (the language is hard for them), and watched the 2006 movie yesterday to see if I could use that somehow. There are a few interesting differences.
Chief among them, I think, is the lack of a magic potion in the movie adaptation. Rather than magic forcing the pair to fall in love after Isolde's betrothal to Marc, they in fact both meet and fall in love beforehand, thought with neither knowing the other's true identity.

Watched Gunpowder Milkshake last night, because I figured two hours of Karen Gillan being a badass can't go wrong. I was right. :D
I think the best part of it however, was the complete absence of "male gaze". Literally no one is sexualised by the camera or direction.
There is a scene early on where the kidnappers tell her to ditch her own clothes and put on the ones they give her before meeting them at the next spot, but there's not even a hint of showing her disrobing, even though that could absolutely be done without being sexualised!

I will argue that they are not high fiving, because the hands are mirroring each other. That's hands held in prayer or greeting.
Admittedly, if you high five someone sitting directly across from you or standing directly in front of you, it's likely you'll hit their opposite hand, so right on left or vice versa.

I love Path of Exile. It's probably the action rpg that's the most competent at what it aims to do, but sometimes the needs of the business model (play forever) are a bit too obvious. Like when you're halfway through the current season (3.8), and the title screen looks like this.
That's:
(A) two separate adds for cosmetic micro transactions,
(B) a link to a news post teasing the _next_ season's updates to gameplay.
and
(C) A _one month long_ countdown to a live stream of an announcement of the season/expansion after that.

I have a bit of a cold, so I decided today's lunch/dinner had to have a bit of a bite. Thus not-actually-particularly asian wok with soy meat substitute, ginger and lime.
Chop onions and paprika. Fry onions first, then add paprika and salt and pepper.
