In my opinion, the best adaptations and reboots take stock of an entire IP’s history, cherry pick all of the strongest aspects, examine the heart and core fundamentals of the property, and expand on them You shouldn’t be trying to outsmart or subvert an IP

You should be celebrating what makes a property unique and special

Sonic is a rebellious teen fighting industrialism. Superman is hopeful and sees the best in people. The Care Bears think caring about stuff really matters

How about a Care Bears reboot where they help young adults and millennials deal with feelings of depression, disillusionment, and cynicism Image it starts off seeming like it’s a cynical parody of the source material, cause all these real-ass adults are really confused and annoyed by these super sincere, happy-go-lucky cartoon bears

then shit gets too real and they have to learn what it actually means to be happy again

my ideal Mario comic would:

> focus primarily on Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach (like SMB2 and Super Show)

> have Peach be a strong, badass ruler of her kingdom

> focus on Bowser as a single parent

> have a huge variety of different Toads, like the early Paper Mario games tonally, these are what I’d draw inspiration from

Mario is about comedy, action, and adventure, within a massive, charming, and slightly surreal world

Nintendo’s treatment of that Smash Bros. tournament is reminding me of the time they tried to come after me, when I was making my Mario fan comic back in the day I probably showed up on their radar because I had “mariocomics.com” as my domain

Long story short, they tried to spook me and I literally said “There are no ads on the site and I’m not selling anything. I ain’t doin anything wrong”

They backed off after that

With the Mario & Luigi series basically dead, and the Paper Mario games being what they are now, I think it’s time for a new Mario RPG series

Let Atlus take a crack at it or something I’ve said this before, but the whole appeal of Mario having RPGs, at least to me, was that they did tons of worldbuilding and told stories that couldn’t really be told in other Mario games

Call me nuts, but I actually really like Mario lore

To celebrate Sonic’s 29th birthday, I’m going to unveil a fun personal project of mine that I’ve been working on during quarantine: a pitch deck detailing my vision for an ideal Sonic cartoon!

Big thread incoming! (1/17) My goal, with this proposal, was to create a Sonic cartoon that drew bits from all of my favorite past versions of Sonic and synthesized them into one streamlined continuity.
