Half-assed storyteller. Full-assed wanderer of woods. Born looking lonesome, onโ€™ry, and mean. Also, I fucking cuss a lot.

If you're spending any time on public land or water this weekend as you celebrate the Fourth of July, or if you enjoy recreational activities regularly on those lands or just celebrate the American model of conservation, please finish reading this thread this morning. ๐Ÿงต So unless you're a sportsman or recreational shooter you might not know this, but there's a brilliant piece of legislation that's been in effect for 85 years (since 1937), one of the most effective pieces of legislation in our country's history, called the Pittman-Robertson Act.

Iโ€™ve long wondered if Sturgill Simpson was a genius or dog shit crazy and tonight he confirmed the former. Thereโ€™s no one else alive doing what heโ€™s doing. So to go back to this this morning, that show last night felt like something really rare. Iโ€™ve seen Sturgill a handful of times at this point and Iโ€™ve enjoyed every show. My favorite album of his to play at the house is probably still High Top Mountain.

The idea that working class fiction and/or fiction centered around the rural poor hasnโ€™t been published is horseshit. You just havenโ€™t been reading it. Name a year and Iโ€™ll tell you a book that shouldโ€™ve been bigger than it was. And youโ€™re STILL not reading the right books. For two fucking years youโ€™ve been talking about Hillbilly Elegy and how that horribly written misportrayal accuractelg represents Appalachia, and I guarantee not a damn one of you has ever read @robert_gipeโ€™s Trampoline or Weedeater.
