2023 will mark my 5th year as a trader.

If I could go back and visit the 2018 me, I’d give him 5 tips:

šŸ§µšŸ‘‡ 1.) This is a marathon

•As I’ve admitted many times on @tradingcamppod, I fully thought I’d be driving a lambo to the beach somewhere within 12 months of starting out (note: I am not)

•You cannot use other traders’ fortunes as your benchmark for success Image

For many traders including myself charting is one of the most important parts of the job.

For my charting, I trust @TrendSpider.

Here are three TrendSpider features that make me a better trader:

🧵 Anchored VWAP

•AVWAP is volume weighted average price anchored to a specific time.

•Regular VWAP shows the average price of a stock weighted by volume, but it resets every day.

•AVWAP will show you a volume weighted average across any time frame. Image

This weekend, I spoke with two professional Wall Street traders about how they manage risk.

Here’s what I learned: 🧵 1. Nobody’s ever gone broke taking profit.

•Professional traders appreciate the value of a dollar

•As you approach resistance on a stock, each incremental dollar up becomes harder to attain

•Don't let a green trade go red because you were stubborn on price

Over the past year, we’ve interviewed 40 of the best trades on Twitter through @tradingcamppod.

Here are 5 key things I’ve learned: 1. Start Small

• Traders we spoke to tended to start with smaller equity investing, before turning to day/swing trading.

• Making these smaller investments helps you:
1. understand how the market works & moves
2. learn the personality of the handful of stocks that you watch

🧵RISK MANAGEMENT🧵

You can have the best trading strategy in the world, but the determinant of how much money you make is how well you manage risk.

Here are 5 risk management principles I live by: 1) Never risk more than you pain point

The pain point is the amount of money you can lose before starting to get emotional.

•We know that the more emotional you become, the lower your ability to make rational decisions.

•This point is to be avoided at all costs.

More than 80% of trading is a mental game.

Here’s something you can do today to enhance the most important part of your trading: šŸ‘‡šŸ§µ We’re easily misguided to believe the mental hurdles we experience while trading are a product of our innate personality traits, but this is false.

•Perspective is usually the culprit of mental/emotional flame outs in trading.

🧵IDENTIFYING TRENDS THREAD

ā€œTrade with the trendā€ is one of the first pieces of advice you hear as a new trader.

What does trading with the trend look like, and how can you profit from it?

šŸ‘‡ Featuring: @CoachDipka The market is like the ocean.

When swimming against the current you exert more effort & dont get as far, when swimming with it you exert less and go further.

The same is true of trending stocks. Capturing the bulk of the move is about how long you can ride the trend.

Moving averages are one of the most common indicators people use to trade, and what I use for 70%+ of my own trades.

Heres why your moving average strategy isn’t working:

šŸ§µšŸ‘‡ Moving Averages represent the average stock price over a given timeframe.

Traders often use them to add into a trend at low risk high reward areas.

🧵OPTIONS STARTER PACK THREAD

Many turn to options trading for the massive potential upside, but end up losing money because they skipped the basics.

If you’re new to options trading, don't take another trade before you understand these 3 concepts: 1.) Time Value

In options time equals money, literally

•Unlike stocks, options have expiration dates, & everyday until the expiration date the option will lose a bit of value because that option has less ā€œtimeā€

•The value an option will lose everyday is denoted by Theta.

🧵TWEEZER THREAD

Tweezer tops & bottoms are one of the simplest reversal patterns in trading.

Here’s how you can use them to create a winning trading strategy:

šŸ‘‡ Tweezers are a two candlestick pattern signaling a potential reversal in a stock.

You can use these on any time frame but I prefer the 5 minute chart. ImageImage

🧵SUPPLY & DEMAND🧵

Supply and Demand Zones are a great tool to help you make money in the stock market.

What are they, and how can you use them to makešŸ’°?

šŸ‘‡(1/11) Image Demand Zones are areas below current price with high buying interest.

Institutions are looking to buy/long stocks in demand zones.

There are two types of Demand Zones: Rally-Base-Rally (RBR) & Drop-Base-Rally (DBR)

We started @Kane_Capital with the goal of providing Retail Traders with as much education & information as possible.

Our YouTube channel is one of many ways we do this.

Here’s a thread of 10 educational YouTube videos I’ve done with the team šŸ§µšŸ‘‡ 🐳Options Trading Tutorial with @unusual_whales

During @Kane_Capital Bootcamp, we spoke with more than 350 traders over 3 months who were trying to improve their game.

Here are the 5 most common hurdles our new traders faced, and how we approached them:

šŸ§µšŸ‘‡ 1.) Rules

Trading rules are the blueprint you will follow on every trade.

Many of our traders had loose ideas of their trading rules: this is my max loss, I’ll take profit here, etc.

However, most hadnt written them down and followed them religiously every day for every trade

🧵 VWAP STRAT THREAD 🧵

VWAP is one of the simplest, most common indicators amongst retail and professional traders - however using it in trading can be challening.

What is VWAP, and what's my strategy for taking trades using VWAP?

šŸ‘‡ What is VWAP?

VWAP stands for volume weighted average price.

It gives you the average price that market participants paid for a stock on a certain day, weighting that average by the volume the stock was trading at.

🧵 FIBONACCI RETRACEMENTS THREAD 🧵

As a new trader fibs can seem like an intimidating tool that only that most experienced traders use, but in reality they’ve very simple and can be extremely useful.

What are fibs and how can you use them in your trading?

šŸ‘‡ Fib retracement levels are key levels in-between a swing high and low where price action may reverse.

Essentially, the represent levels of significance between a recent high, and a recent low.

First, the math behind fibs

🧵 EMA GAP STRATEGY 🧵

In volatile markets, overnight gap ups and gap downs are common. Nobody likes charting for hours at night, only to have a gap up or gap down completely ruin their plans.

Here’s a simple strategy I use to play gaps at the open in either direction

šŸ‘‡ A gap is a phenomenon on the daily chart where the opening price of the stock is significantly above (gap up) or significantly below (gap down) the closing price from the previous session.

I prefer gaps of at least 0.5% for this strat.

🧵8/21 EMA STRAT THREAD

I take ~75% of my trades using one indicator: Moving Averages. They’re great tool, but can get you into trouble if used improperly.

What are moving averages and how do I use them in my trading?

šŸ‘‡ A moving average (MA) is a graphic representation of the average closing price of the last x amount of candles. For example, the 8 MA will show you the average price of the last 8 candle closes. 21 MA gives average price of last 21 candle closes etc.
