I tell this story often, but there was a woman in a company I worked for many years ago who thought it was totally fine to use the work email to send people religious emails about how we should convert to Christianity, I was raised under an oppressive shove-it-down-your-throat brand of Christianity and I certainly didn't need this at work, but I wasn't the only one who hated it. Everyone did. I tried everything to get her to stop,

So the irony of this is the first picture is exactly what she'd look like if you got her into a salon and put on makeup and the second picture is exactly what she'd look like if she was busy fighting giants for 18 hours a day. Image Funny how all that concern about realism or "historical accuracy" comes up when it's a black mermaid or a lack of rape in a fantasy game, but when a female character looks like any person would accurately look in that situation, that's also bad

Woke is when you object to dragon rape People act like this quest was some lore accurate exploration into World of Warcraft's darker past. It's not. It's a quest that contradicts things we already know about the timeways and time travel and completely mischaracterizes Chromie. It's badly written all on its own.

I've been seeing tweets along the lines of "renting isn't throwing money away because I don't want to deal with all the huge problems a landlord has" and I gotta tell you, it feels like a psyop Imo people tend to rent rather than buying because it's been made impossible to buy unless you already are lucky enough to have a lot of money up front for a giant deposit. Not because they'd rather not have the "responsibility" of a landlord.

On the one hand, this is absolutely vile and evil, an open show of using propaganda to distort the truth in order to push the transphobic agenda that is part of a purposeful movement to roll back all our rights. On the other, it's hilarious that GCs spent ages saying "terf is a slur" and rebranding to GC only to complain that's also a slur now, because there is not a name in the universe that won't immediately become tainted by what they are. It's impossible to hide the rot, it will show

"It was an honest mistake. They didn't know the lore"

They knew the lore enough to mention Alexstrasza's abuser - a character a lot of people *wouldn't* know -by name. They knew enough to know she had reason to be visibly upset. What exactly did they think this story was about? ImageImage Not even going into the fact that it's just wild to see people "defend" writers by basically claiming they're ignorant and bad at their jobs - when I write a lore article about a character or incident I have limited knowledge about I put in five minutes to look it up

I'm not someone who flips the lid over half finished quests on the PTR or half-data mined models. I'm not someone who claims you can never address the darker storylines in World of Warcraft, or someone who jumps to unfair interpretations just to get outrage going. I feel like I've earned at least enough good grace to be taken seriously when I say this quest is bad, it's really bad, and why, without it being insinuated that I'm overdramatic or impatient or don't understand that sometimes the story is dark. But I guess I'm wrong.

It's my anniversary today. It's also midnight. I would have liked to go to bed two hours ago, but I was writing about a side quest about making sure Alexstrasza doesn't escape her enslavement and rape "too early" ImageImageImageImage Hahaha, don't tell Alexstrasza! Hahaha oh the rape victim is mad she's so scary! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahwsdalsoijkodas.DKQW

It can be confusing when people use progressive-sounding language to push their views, and other people use progressive-sounding language to say those views are actually regressive.

Try this easy trick:

Which side do the Nazis agree with? That's the non-progressive side. Like a lot of cis people, I knew next to nothing about trans people a few years ago, with my understanding being very shallow and in many ways transphobic. When I started to learn more about the discussion, GCs (then TERFs) tried to recruit me.

Honestly few things terrify me more than the way transphobic bigotry has been spun into "protecting women's rights" and "feminism", because absolutely nothing destroys a group's rights than completely polluting what those rights even look like. We've already reached the stage where being anti-abortion has been reframed as a "feminist" stance. In the name of trans-exclusionism, body expectations for women are getting even worse.

I'm really not going to get the Heartbreaker this year. We only have a few more days left. This is awful. I hate this. The fact that I can't even really work for it but have to rely on that first drop a day before turning to my endless alt grind knowing the chances are still impossibly low has made this year feel worst than any year before.

Going to say this:
In light of the whole Blizzard sexual assault lawsuit I don't agree, at all, that it's super sacred we all insist the important old lore guy who organized all that stuff that happened to Alexstrasza was once a genuinely good person who just fell from grace. It is honestly a narrative that makes me feel uncomfortable as a woman in WoW, especially when I see it come from men.

In Dawn of the Aspects, Neltharion already shows red flags. He clearly enjoys violence.

I would use AI to write headlines for my articles for me. is that a thing? Apparently it is a thing if you're ok with all the hands in your headlines having six fingers.

Oh I'm sorry did my criticism of the right embracing and endorsing violent misogyny against women not focus enough on criticizing women for you? What the fuck does this even mean. Is he claiming misogyny is a genetic trait like red hair or blue eyes or is he just saying t*te is his own grandpa.

When people call Tate a misogynist, it's not because he once called a woman "sweety" or sometimes talks over women. It's because he actively and openly advocates physically, mentally, and sexually assaulting and abusing women. But the right fully endorses him. If that doesn't show you that right-wing politics is just the most evil, awful, and amoral people in the world being evil, awful, and amoral, I'm not sure anything will.

Guild asks us to at least try to do one mythic+ a week if we want to raid, so I've been doing that, & I have to admit something: I *do not get* the appeal of mythic+ dungeons and honestly kinda wish the entire system was never invented. (not really, because other people love it) I don't get it. I don't understand what's fun about running an intensive and hyper-stressful dungeon against a timer, with no one getting a chance to breathe and plenty of ways to very specifically be the reason why your group failed, all to get no loot at the end.

Every year I feel mildly embarrassed about how much I enjoy New Year and the feeling of starting fresh and setting goals, because every year everyone else seems to agree nothing more cringe. BUT THIS YEAR I now know my complicated relationship with organization is an ADHD thing. Finding out that it's entirely normal for my brain to seek out and even need organization, but that I'll also reject that organization sooner or later, was one of my most liberating discoveries of 2022.

Shapiro's main complaint about Glass Onion is that the movie's "politics" do not support the Conservative worldview, and as far as he's concerned, that makes it unrealistic and wrong. And yet, that movie so perfectly predicted recent events, everyone including Shapiro himself wound up assuming it was written specifically about Muskrat.

A lot of people are saying the problem with Glass Onion is you can predict or solve the mystery because of all the red herrings, but you can? My husband and I both had suspicions about the outcome of the movie because of little clues from the start. The puzzle boxes themselves are a clue when you combine it with the name of the movie, Glass Onion.

Charging a subscription fee will get rid of the bots, who won't pay. That's why World of Warcraft has never had a bot problem. (For non WoW players, world of warcraft has a $13 subscription fee and has always had a bot problem)

Because the mastodon server that I joined is no longer accepting new applications, it doesn't show up on the app when I try to log in, meaning I can't use the mastodon app until invitations open again or I switch servers for a second time. Which is... More and more I'm feeling like the time I spend trying to get used to mastodon will just be a waste of time because no site this user unfriendly has a prayer of actually taking off.
