Received a memo from my child's daycare regarding new @PublicHealthON and @TOPublicHealth "guidance"

A couple of glaring things stood out: 1) Sore throat, diarrhea and vomiting all being considered less common symptoms. Yet almost every child with (symptomatic) COVID whom I have cared for has at least one of these.

We need to stop assuming kids present the same as adults.

Starting to see Peds admissions for COVID now reach community hospitals. Saw more kids admitted to @NYGH_News with C19 in the last 24 hrs than the entirety of the last year.

Fever, vomiting/diarrhea, sore throat, and decreased fluid intake all common. Not unlike other viruses Small sample size, but patients all young and/or unvaccinated. Thankfully, even those hospitalized still had relatively mild disease. But fully expecting to see more severe presentations as case numbers continue to increase

I took some time to digest the latest Ontario government announcement and reflect on it. Tried to recognize that at this point in the 5th wave, whatever decision that was made was going to leave some feeling mad/unhappy

/start My two cents:

I want kids in school as badly as anyone. But the way the government has gone about doing this feels more like a stance as opposed to proposing a thoughtful and evidence based strategy /2
