The Albanese Govt's approval of Santos' 116 gaswell Towrie Project has attracted a lot of criticism, & rightly so, but it is a tiny fraction of the fracking and CSG already underway, and planned, for inland QLD in the next few years. The QLD Gasfields Commission said in early 2021 that there were about 8,600 gaswells in operation in the "Surat Basin" - industry speak for an area roughly corresponding with the Western Downs, Maranoa, and parts of the Central Highlands.
