NEW: Long statement from @boisemayor @laurenmclean at the top of the Boise City Council meeting on the CDH meeting. She spoke extemporaneously for several minutes: 1/ "To start, I have a couple things I need to say.

Earlier this evening, about half an hour at this point, I called the director of CDH that he close the meeting immediately that was happening at Central District Health". 2/

"My 12 year old son is home alone right now and there are protestors banging outside the door," @LachiondoD said tearfully. She is at the office and said she is leaving the meeting to rush home. Russ Duke with CDH is also leaving the call. He is going to talk to staff and @BoisePD. This is stunning

A thread about local news and police. I’m always astonished by how much police speak makes it into the copy of local news papers, scripts and websites.

I don’t often cover crime in my current role (by choice), but used to do it a lot. “Officer-involved” is a term you often hear. As in, “there’s been an officer-involved shooting.” What does this 3-word phrase mean? Does it mean an officer was shot? Does it mean an officer shot someone? Does it mean there’s a shooting and an officer was just there? Who can say!

Here is a select list of some of the stories that most impacted or impressed me in 2019.

Good size crowd here for the @boisepublib hearing. LOTS of chairs put out. Still a few minutes until this begins. Public testimony will be heard. #BoiseDev @boisepublib As far as I'm aware, the Idaho Freedom Foundation, Friends of Boise Public Library and Boise Working Together all worked to get people to this meeting. I'd estimate a little more than 100 folks here - just a rough estimate.
