Touya had thought they'd been on the same page. That he'd hinted just enough to be obvious about his intentions without giving everything away.

Keigo had said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with him.

And he'd still said no. The ring weighs down his pocket, heavy like the stone that's been sitting in Touya's stomach since his failure of a proposal.

He breathes out, arms resting on the railing of their balcony.

Hawks isn't quite sure how he made it back to his apartment.

He knows he must have flown? Walked? But he honestly can't remember.

The fact that Dabi is there yelling at him doesn't help.

"What were you fucking thinking!" Hawks can honestly say he wasn't thinking much at all. His head hurts. The palm of his hand goes to touch the stinging on his temple, but he's stopped by Dabi's fingers wrapping themselves tightly around his wrist.

Dabi doesn't get it.

Hawks' wings keep making this weird back and forth motion, nothing too obvious at first, but hard to miss now that Dabi's noticed it.

And Dabi's not bird savvy enough to figure out what it means. He 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 it means something. He just hasn't quite figured out what that is just yet.

At first he figures it's one of Hawks tells.

Dabi was almost delighted when he'd come to that conclusion, finally able to pinpoint when the Hawks was lying to him.

There's the tinkling of keys again that's been driving Touya crazy the past 2 weeks.

Keigo makes a little cooing noise when Kyou looks up in his direction, immediately crawling towards him. "One day that's going to stop working," Touya says, stretching out completely now that Keigo's vacated the couch.

"No she won't," Keigo says a little too knowingly, settling himself on his knees and bringing the object of Kyou's attention a little closer to her.

Touya has a missed call from Hawks. The third missed call this week.

He gets that it's been a while, but Hawks had never been particularly clingy. Touya liked that about him. The fact that they could go weeks without seeing eachother and have no hard feelings.

Hawks wasn't exactly hounding him, but it was definitely enough that, despite his busy schedule of patrols and paperwork, Touya made time for a night in Hawks' bed.

Or at least that was the plan.

"What the hell is this?"

Dabi knows what kind of person it takes to be able to look at his face during sex and not immediately recoil.

It's a special kind of crazy that Dabi has only ever made the mistake of indulging a handful of times and never with anyone he couldn't immediately kill if things went awry.

He sizes Hawks up, taking in the slightly shorter stature and almost dainty looking ankles. His feathers are certainly flammable, Dabi burned through enough of them in warning to have figured that one out.

Hawks has made a nest under Dabi's bed.

There's literally nothing else it could be; a collection of ratty blankets and soft, worn fabrics tucked into the corner where Dabi's bed meets the wall.

And Dabi's going to give him so much shit for it. When he's no longer looking at Dabi like that with those big ass eyes of his and when he's grown past three feet tall again.

Why Hawks thought to come here like this Dabi's still trying to work out. He must've still been, well... Hawks when he arrived. 𝘏𝘪𝘴 Hawks.

Hawks doesn't act like your typical Omega.

Not that it's hard to picture him as one. He's certainly pretty enough to be one, it's just… everything else that makes Dabi forget sometimes. Submissive is not a word he would ever use to describe Hawks. Hawks doesn't bend unless he wants to and even then he makes Dabi work for it. Smiling so wide and pretty like it's some kind of game to him. It keeps foreplay interesting, if nothing else.

"So…"

Hawks doesn't bother pretending to be startled. He'd heard Dabi long before he'd entered his borrowed room. They're past the point of Hawks needing all the theatrics.

"What'd he do?" He'd known Dabi would come looking for him after he left. That's not what gives Hawks pause. It's the question. It's not the "Why" he'd been expecting.

His posture remains relaxed, gaze steady instead of averted, trying not to give Dabi too much reason to look any closer.

"Where's Touya?"

Keigo blinks as Shouto barges into their home, not even sparing him a glance.

"Hi, Kiego. Hi,Shouto, by all means come in. Thank you, Keigo; how has the new baby been? Well it's been an adjustment but thank you for asking." Shouto only rolls his eyes at Keigo's theatrics.

Teenagers are so rude.

"He's in our bedroom." He answers, scratching the back of his head and working his fingers through some tangles. The slight pain keeps him awake at least.

"If you hadn't already noticed, I have two pressing concerns." Keigo's face is carefully blank, no trace of amusement as he expands his wings. The way he lifts his hands to point at them is completely sarcastic.

"That's why you wear a life jacket." Touya argues. He'd already thought this through, there's no reason Keigo should oppose his beach get away idea.

"I'm not wearing a life jacket for most of our honeymoon pictures," Keigo throws the brochure back onto the coffee table. "Pass."

"Do you think they heard us?" Keigo gets out through heaving breaths.

Touya gives Keigo an incredulous stare, blinking his eyes slowly just to emphasize his point.

The headboard behind his head has new scratches to add to its steadily growing assortment thanks to Keigo's talons.

Keigo makes a face, already knowing the answer. He moves a little bit too much, too soon, and Touya winces and reaches out to steady his hips.

"Stop moving," he growls.

"Sorry," at least Keigo sounds remorseful as he stills his movements.

Touya had expressed many times that he doesn't like public displays of affection.

Despite being a touchy person Keigo doesn't push Touya to change or hold it against him. What he has with Keigo is personal and he doesn't need to make a show about proving how much he loves him.

They're in the library together finishing up their essays for their literature class. Neither of them are majoring in English,

"You do realize that you can't keep doing this every time." 

Keigo only stares up at him innocently with large glazed eyes, his sweet scent perfuming the air around him while he made grabby hands in Touya's direction. Touya obeys the silent command and gingerly climbs into the carefully constructed pile of pillows and blankets. Keigo wraps his arms and legs around him almost instantly, tucking his head under Touya's chest and nuzzling into his collarbone.

Hanging out with Keigo and Touya is weird. 

For one, they're always touching each other. 

A stray elbow overlapping in each other's space, a leg placed in the other lap, hands overlayed a wrist or tangled in a shirt. Touya and his brother have been friends for a long time so he just figures they've developed an inseparable bond like Dark Shadow and himself.

The second is that they're always sharing food.
