We have today achieved landmark agreements with Egypt during our ongoing development bilateral discussions in Cairo with my counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Sameh Shoukry on ways to enhance the social, political and economic cooperation between our two countries. Issues agreed on today include:-

1. Free visa entry
2. Tea, coffee, nuts, meat, wheat and flower exports to Egypt
3. Fertilizer and irrigation programmes
4. Rail, road & connectivity
5. Scholarships & Diaspora matters
6. The Nile
7. Green energy & reforming the financial sector

I have today held a meeting with H. E. Dr. Jafar Barmaki, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in regard to trade and other opportunities. On trade, it was agreed that Kenya will export 40 to 50 tonnes of sheep and meat per day to Iran with an estimated export value of USD 6 Million per month. Further, we agreed on Kenya exporting 10,000 tonnes of onions to Iran in addition to tea.

2. We found out of the AZIMIO LA UMOJA - ONE KENYA coalition in the news like the rest of Kenyans. 3. There is an indication the leadership of Azimio is made up of three parties only: Jubilee, ODM & Wiper. Leaving out the other founding parties.
4.  Coalitions agreement documents have not been shown to us, yet they are insisting that we should sign. We will not agree to this.

FINANCIAL CUSHIONING MEASURES FOR THE PEOPLE OF
MACHAKOS COUNTY DUE TO COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
 
At this time of hard economic times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is important that as Kenyans we all pull together to assist each other. We can’t expect all solutions to come from His Excellency the President.  Each one of us need to have a humanitarian heart and do something withing our powers and ability to assist Kenyans.

Fellow Kenyans,

This morning, millions of educated and hardworking youth woke up unemployed and broke and this evening they will go to bed still jobless and broke. #MutuaForPresident Our women, our girls, our sisters, mothers will today still labour like donkeys and will be fetching water from dirty rivers, giving birth on the sides of our roads like wild animals and sleeping hungry so that their children can eat a meal.#MutuaForPresident

This morning at my office in Matuu, I met grassroot leaders from Masinga Central ward led by their area MCA Tariq Mulatya to discuss pertinent issues relating to the ward. Our discussion revolved around projects that my government has undertaken in the area, those that are under implementation and a wishlist of programmes that the people of Masinga Central would like us to support them on.

Early this week at Mbiuni shopping centre in Mwala Sub County, I launched a programme for mass distribution of face masks to our people of Machakos to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Since the first case of the novel Coronavirus was detected and announced in the country, my government of Machakos, without wasting time, embarked on rapid initiatives to contain the spread of the virus including special training for health workers.

As part of my re-organization of Government to ensure improvement, efficiency & service delivery to Wananchi in Machakos County, I have today made the following changes in my Government. Despite financial challenges we might encounter during this financial year, wananchi still need and deserve development and service from our public offices. I have made these changes to ensure that all serving in my Cabinet remain attuned to this Clarion call of service.

WHY KENYANS WILL CONTINUE BEING FIRED FROM JOBS EVEN AFTER CORONA:

It is quite concerning when we hear of mass sackings of employees from COVID-19 economic hardships. The main problem is not Covid-19, but the inability of our economy to cushion us during times like these. Right now, families are hurting and Kenyans are suffering due to lack of money and general hardships in life.

We have, as a society, been primed to place more emphasis on politics and tribal blocs rather than economic freedom and expansion.

Today I have met Mr. Jiao Xuxue, General Manager China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and Mr. Li Changgui, Deputy General Manager of China Communications Construction to discuss ways of facilitating the speedy implementation of the Nairobi Expressway project. CRBC have entered into a Private-Public Partnership with the National govt to construct the express highway on a Built Operate and Transfer(BOT) arrangement, starting from around Mlolongo to Waiyaki way. Full construction is expected to start in August & completed by June 2022.

KENYA NEEDS RADICAL CHANGE IN ITS POLITICAL SPHERE

Life in Kenya is tough and will continue to be so for a while unless we change the way politics is managed in our country. Currently, you are unlucky if born in a small tribe or from a family that is not connected. Regardless of how smart and life changing you are, currently in Kenya, if you are a Dorobo, Kisii, Rendile, Gabra or from a smaller tribe or not from the top large three tribes, then the odds of being a Kenyan President are stacked against you just because of your tribe.

POROUS NAIROBI METROPOLIS BORDER A THREAT TO MACHAKOS COUNTY.

I have today chaired the Machakos County Security Team meeting at my Machakos office. We discussed a number of issues, key among them being the enhancing of extra security measures during this covid-19 period. The porosity of the metropolis borders has led to increased cases of covid-19 cases within Machakos County, of special concern being that individuals without the prerequisite credentials are bribing police officers manning the set boundaries gaining access to and out of Machakos.

MACHAKOS STADIUM CONVERTED TO A COVID-19 HOSPITAL FOR MASS TESTING AND ISOLATION

As we embark on preparing for any rise in the number Covid-19 infections, the Machakos Government has converted Machakos Stadium into a health facility. The stadium will house temporary mass screening and treatment areas and will be able to isolate those who are found positive and treat them for mild and non-critical conditions.
We have taken this step to free up our Machakos Level 5 from being a treatment and isolation centre.

CORONAVIRUS ECONOMIC SURVIVAL: ELECTRICITY & WATER BILLS SHOULD BE WAIVED, GAS AND PARAFFIN VAT REMOVED

Due to the slow down of the economy perpetuated by the Coronavirus pandemic, and in anticipation of further stringent measures by our Central Government,.. ..I propose more economic actions to further cushion mwananchi from its effects.

I urge the @KenyaPower to waive electric bills for household consumption for the next six months.

MACHAKOS CORONA VIRUS DIRECTIVES

After several virtual meetings with members of the Machakos County Security team, the Coronavirus Cabinet Subcommittee and other stakeholders, we have taken the following decisions to further protect our people from the spread of the Coronavirus. 1. BODA BODAS, MARUTI & TUK TUKS BAN: Social distancing is critical if we are to avoid Wananchi getting infected. There is no way a boda boda rider is safe from being infected by a sick passenger and thereafter infecting hundreds.
