The US just froze a $32 million Chinese telescope in Argentina. Customs seized the parts. Diplomats killed the project. The NYT says it’s geopolitics.

But I don’t think so. I think it’s thermodynamics. 🧵 Argentina China Telescope 📸NY Times As the @NYTImes reports, “The Trump administration says it is enforcing an updated Monroe Doctrine, in part to counter China’s growing footprint in the Western Hemisphere. UFO true believers aren’t just wrong.
They’ve built a techno-cargo cult around fake physics.
As someone who’s spent 20+ years building experiments to test the actual laws of nature, here’s why “anti-gravity craft” is pseudoscience wrapped in Pentagon PowerPoints. Image Claim: UAPs do 80,000 ft dives in <1 sec, stop instantly, turn at Mach 10.

Reality: That’s thousands of g’s—lethal to any known biology or machine.
Also? No sonic boom = no physics.
You don’t break the sound barrier silently.

I’ve spent years searching for evidence that the universe might have a preferred direction—something that would shake the foundations of cosmology.

Our new paper just dropped in Physical Review D. It’s about a strange twist in the cosmic microwave background: anisotropic birefringence.Image Here’s the paper:
“Search for Anisotropic Cosmic Birefringence in CMB Polarization”

We searched for spatial variations in how the early universe rotated the polarization of light—looking for signs of new, parity-violating physics. journals.aps.org/prd/accepted/1…

We searched for signs that light’s polarization rotates as it crosses the universe—this is called anisotropic cosmic birefringence (CB). This rotation could signal parity-violating physics beyond the Standard Model. It imprints a unique pattern on the B-mode polarization of the CMB. Image

I genuinely feel bad for Terrence Howard.

Friday, he was paired with a so-called guest expert on the @PBDsPodcast.

The intention was for Howard’s bold claims to receive an expert peer review.

Instead what happened was the guest, Dr. Weiping Wu, the highly credentialed scientist in the conversation with @patrickbetdavid used Terrence’s notoriety to criticize other physicists, demean all of modern physics and promote his own demonstrably false theory of everything.Image

Image
2/ Full disclosure:
PBD asked me if I was willing to possibly appear with Terrence. I would have enjoyed it, but had a conflict—as it happed, I was with Terrence’s previous reviewer, @neiltyson.

I suspected this PBD conversation would go viral.

I was right.

So I cautioned Patrick:

Get a vetted expert, find a skilled counterpart to avoid misleading viewers—either into hastily accepting or
dismissing Terrence’s ideas.

That would be a disservice.

As Patrick admits, he’s not equipped to judge, so having an actual, and yes mainstream expert, vetted by professional scientists should have caused PBD to delay.

Now, it becomes necessary for a swift, expert refutation;
vital to countering errors before they take root and distort reality.Image

I genuinely feel bad for @terrencehoward.

Yesterday, he was paired with a guest “expert” on the @PBDsPodcast.

In this thread, I’ll dissect the utterly and demonstrably false claims espoused by Dr. Weiping Wu, the “credentialed scientist” in the conversation with @patrickbetdavid.Image

First off: Patrick invited me to be with Terrence on his show, I couldn’t join due to prior commitments (with Terrence’s previous peer reviewer @neiltyson as it turned out).

I warned Patrick to find a skilled counterpart to avoid misleading viewers—either into hastily accepting or dismissing Terrence’s ideas. That would be a disservice.

Misinformation can confuse the public, undermine trust in science, and derail progress by promoting flawed concepts.

I correctly foresaw this video’s virality, amplifying the risk.

As Patrick admits, he’s not equipped to judge, so having an actual, and yes mainstream expert, vetted by professional scientists should have caused PBD to delay. Now, it becomes necessary for a swift, expert refutation; vital to countering errors before they take root and distort reality.Image

The name 'Big Bang' is a scientific 'Streisand Effect'
—a detractor’s insult that backfired brilliantly, cementing itself as the iconic term for the universe's birth. What started as a rival's ridicule became cosmology’s most famous concept. Let’s dive into how that happened... 🧵Image The Streisand Effect refers to the unintended consequences of suppressing information. It’s named after Barbra Streisand, who tried to block the release of photos of her house in 2003—only to draw more attention to them. The same effect occurred decades early with the Big Bang Theory's name.

The recent groundbreaking announcement by the Event Horizon Telescope shook the world of astronomy and captivated the curiosity of millions. Image The telescope, a marvel of modern technology, captured the first-ever image of the enigmatic black hole at the heart of our Milky Way galaxy.

But what does this mean for our understanding of the universe?

Let's delve deep into the implications:

When I die my first question to the Devil will be:

“What is the meaning of the fine structure constant?”
— Wolfgang Pauli

Why would Wolfy say such a thing?

Well, first of all, did you know the fine structure constant is NOT a constant!

A finely woven 🧵: Image Before going there, let’s introduce the constant. It was named ‘alpha (α)’ by Arnold Sommerfeld in 1916 who extended Bohr’s ‘planetary model’ of the atom, fixing puzzling gaps observed in the ‘fine structure’ of hydrogen’s spectral lines. ImageImage
