What is a Woman is trending so I think it’s important to spread the word that transitioning leads to improved quality of life, greater relationship satisfaction, higher self-esteem, and reductions in anxiety, depression, suicidality, and substance use. People got really upset when I said mRNA vaccination has not been shown to cause blood clots. Some acted like if I showed them proof they’d change their minds (because they definitely weren’t sealioning). Well ok. Here’s a 🧵 to share if you see ppl trying to blame mRNA vaccines. Large study early on examining risk after the first dose of Pfizer found no increased risk of thrombotic events. nature.com/articles/s4159… ImageImageImage

Quick thread on vaccine associated myocarditis. We’ve known for 2 years this is a possible rare side effect. Particularly in adolescent and young males. The vast majority of cases being mild with sometimes short uneventful hospital courses. 🧵 ImageImageImage Of the cases that do develop, follow up testing such as echocardiograms and cardiac MRIs are reassuring suggesting favorable long term outcomes. Gender is not binary and transgender individuals are not suffering from some mental illness or “choosing” a different identity for fun. If you’re going to spend time on Twitter attacking transgender people and their allies here’s some required reading. Bookmark it. 🧵 Image “Transgender identity is complex – it’s unlikely we’ll ever be able to attribute it to one neat, contained set of causes, and there is still much to be learned. But we know now that several of those causes are biological.” filmsforaction.org/articles/betwe… ImageImage

Recent study: no increase in death (cardiac or all causes) in ages 12-29 after mRNA vaccination. There was an increase in cardiac and all cause deaths after a SARS-CoV-2 infection. Image Link: nature.com/articles/s4146…

Masks continue to trend so here is a quick thread to save as a reference on the importance of masking. Let’s start with the rationale behind it. 🧵 Multiple various studies have shown masks are helpful with reducing transmission (also see my pinned Tweet).

Why does everyone keep citing this one Cochrane review as definitive evidence masks don’t work? There is plenty of evidence suggesting masks may reduce the spread and it’s a low risk intervention. Put politics aside for a minute. cochrane.org/CD006207/ARI_d… Great article reviewing the Cochrane study and what it can and can’t tell us: theconversation.com/yes-masks-redu…

New study out in the BMJ showed even mild COVID-19 could cause long COVID. However, with mild illness many of the long COVID symptoms or conditions improved or returned to baseline between 6-12 months. bmj.com/content/380/bm… They also looked at long COVID-19 symptoms by age:

I can’t believe I have to do this but I keep running into people on Twitter who deny viruses exist and deny SARS-CoV-2 exists saying, “The virus has never been isolated.” So, I’m making this thread for you all to bookmark for reference if you see someone make this claim. 🧵 So let’s start with this. Quick thread to bookmark for reference when you see people blaming vaccines for increased cardiac deaths.

1. Cardiac deaths were significantly on the rise in year one of the pandemic before vaccines were rolled out. Especially in those aged 25-44.

New risk-benefit assessment in preprint from 12/2/22 for the COVID vaccines in males 18-64. Conclusion: benefits outweighed the risks. This far into the pandemic there is no excuse for denying masks reduce the transmission of COVID-19. I’m making this thread to be a quick reference of the evidence so you can refer people here if you find yourself faced with the claim “masks don’t work.” Article published in JAMA in 2/2021 detailing how masks work to reduce community transmission. Every day I see people on Twitter saying COVID vaccines don’t effect transmission. This is so incredibly FALSE. Vaccines don’t necessarily STOP transmission 100% but they most certainly REDUCE transmission making them a key tool to stopping this pandemic. 🧵 New study 6/2022 showing mRNA booster doses prevent ~1000 cases per 100,000 people during Omircon. Not insignificant and more evidence that vaccination prevents transmission. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. thelancet.com/journals/lanin…
