It was 2012, and I was in Upstate New York doing a clinical rotation in “emergency psychiatry”

17 years ago, I woke up post-tonsillectomy to a resident yelling in my face, “What did you take? Aspirin? We need to know! You’ve been bleeding!”
Dazed, I replied, “No! I only took my usual meds”

(Research thread)
↓↓↓
To locate patient harm communities, I extensively & repeatedly searched Google, FB, Reddit, 𝕏, & my brain, plus prompted AI, & also reached out to harmed individuals / community leaders
I used these intensive search tactics for all categories represented in this analysis — & for countless others that did not make the cut (due to a lack of communities, or minuscule-sized ones)

I am an American Jew
It’s been an intense year
I am not a victim of anything or anyone
But I am human
I gravitate towards stoicism
But I do feel
There are pieces of me that broke this past year —
and then reassembled into a different formation

I am an American Jew and here are some of the moments that were dark FOR ME this past year
