🧵 Over the last year, the DC Metro area has been overrun with illegal moped drivers who ignore traffic laws and create an atmosphere of lawlessness on the roads. Despite intermittent efforts to crack down on the problem, it's not getting better. 1/
These moped drivers weave between packed cars at stop lights, run red lights, drive the wrong way in the opposing lane, cut diagonally through intersections, use the bike lanes, and so forth. This isn't an occasional infraction: any commuter will see this every single day. 2/

How far we have fallen: 100 years ago, teammates Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, representing Britain, ran in the 1924 Paris Olympics. Liddell, a devout Christian, refused to run the 100 meter sprint because it landed on a Sunday. His Jewish teammate Abrahams won that race. Liddell won the 400 meter, which was held on a weekday.
Most know their story because of the movie Chariots of Fire. In 1981, it was nominated for seven Academy Award, and won three: Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score. imdb.com/title/tt008215…

.@JuddLegum pretends that what @kellyske has said about sex ed is somehow extreme. I'm glad he's poked the hornets' nest. Here's some of the "sex education" content produced by Int'l Planned Parenthood Federation. Judge for yourself.
🧵Christian Nationalism is trending. I'm still trying to figure out what it is. But it might help to have a clear view of the original American constitutional system. It's ingenious--& not to be confused with the hyper-secularism imposed by courts over the last several decades.
To grasp the constitutional system, it's crucial to understand the Founders' conviction that there can be public (and not merely sectarian) knowledge of God's existence and a natural moral law. Our options are not just special revelation or nothing.

Just waking up to the atrocities of gender ideology? Didn't bother you before? Are you wondering how you, and we, got here? If so, you might want to rethink a few other things you have granted without realizing their implications. Here's a partial list:
1. Agreeing to laws that allow people to change the sex on their birth certificate simply because it contradicts their "gender identity."
As someone who works on gender ideology in the policy realm full time, it's hard to describe how bizarre this @nytimes story is. It suggests that conservative activists were looking around for something to rally supporters and donors and landed on...this. nytimes.com/2023/04/16/us/…
This describes literally *no one* I know in this space. For instance, @RyanTAnd did not write When Harry Became Sally because conservative donors were clamoring for it. There was zero worldly advantage in taking up the issue. At the time, it seemed like all downside, no upside.

🧵What is the proper tone to use in response to people who want to make you pretend some men are women, who seek to destroy any business that won't play along, who praise insulting parodies of women by role-playing men,
who seek to alienate children from their parents, who want to convince children they might be born in the wrong bodies, who seek to convince such children that they need sterilizing drugs and surgery to fix their bodies, who insist there's no alternative,

🧵Quote from @NIH webpage: "Sex is a biological classification, encoded in our DNA. Males have XY chromosomes, and females have XX chromosomes. Sex makes us male or female. ...
...Every cell in your body has a sex— making up tissues and organs, like your skin, brain, heart, and stomach. Each cell is either male or female depending on whether you are a man or a woman."

🧵We have our first major whistleblower from a ghoulish pediatric gender clinic. She violates all the media tropes. "I am a 42-year-old St. Louis native, a queer woman, and politically to the left of Bernie Sanders....I’m now married to a transman." thefp.com/p/i-thought-i-…
She noticed the obvious: A surge in teens showing up, most of them girls w/ no previous evidence of gender distress but all manner of psychological problems, who got put on drugs, which led to disasters.

🧵How contrary to standard medical practice is it to recommend the social transition-to-sterilization pipeline for kids, as the AAP and the HHS now do? Let's compare it to something like prostate cancer--which will kill ~35,000 American men this year.
If a man is diagnosed with low level prostate cancer, such as Gleason score 6, doctors will often advise "watchful waiting" or "active surveillance." In other words, Dr. tells patient to eat well, lose weight and stop smoking (if applicable), and get retested in six months.

🧵Gender ideology inspires claims that aren't merely unverifiable or simply false, but unintelligible. Or so it seems. Consider a scenario where a person named Stone claims to "identify as" a woman, and treats that as equivalent to identifying as a female.
Stone does not have a disorder of sexual development, and has XY chromosomes in all the relevant cells in Stone's body. Stone was born with typical male secondary sex characteristics--a penis and testes--and had a typical hormonal profile throughout childhood and puberty.
