Lawd, Ms #VirginiaAllen got me in tears today. I called to check in on her & she shared that @dnpsofcolor conference was literally the highlight of her entire life.
She recounted all the special encounters she had during the conference weekend in vivid detail, reliving the delight over and over again with each snippet she recalled

Me and Ms. #VirginiaAllen (92 years old) the last surviving Black Angel, a group of nurses recruited from the South, that took care of patients at the height of the #tuberculosis pandemic in #StatenIsland when all the White #nurses refused to continue caring for those patients.
We had the honor of having an intimate conversation with her at DNPs of Color conference. She is absolutely amazing!

For each #impostersyndrome doubt I have being #faculty I have double the amount of validation from my students that I belong in the space I am in.
I was meeting w/a DNPadvisee discussing their PICO question. Toward the end she shares that she has to build in her schedule time to do her hair in prep for clinical in the morning. I held space for her in that moment bc I understood what she meant in so many words.
