1/5 On 13 March 1922 (100 years ago!), the All-Ukrainian Photo Cinema Administration/Всеукраїнське фото кіноуправління (VUFKU) was founded. The Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre in Kyiv studies & restores VUFKU films. It urgently needs financial support. tinyurl.com/2p8zy4e2 2/5 VUFKU, a state monopoly that ran the Ukrainian film industry, had studios in Odesa, Kyiv, Kharkiv & Yalta. In 1930, it was reorganised into Ukrainfilm & brought under the USSR's centrally/Moscow controlled Soiuzkino. Many of VUFKU's leading figures were imprisoned or executed
