I have an honest question…
When did MLK Day become about community programs and park clean ups and/or service projects?
Check out this thread and hear me out.
Michael (Martin) Luther King Jr. (The Real One — Not the One that people have co-opted into a beloved fairy tale character) Was undoubtedly one of the most radical and confrontational persons to walk the planet.
He would literally walk into the face of people who HATED him.

1) I think situations like older 🗣and younger white people calling Black people the N-Word in public settings is more common than we think.
The response in regards to how the situation is handled is where we are now.
I think there are a few responses that are appropriate.
2) White people have to commit themselves to speaking out about racism, bias, privilege, and be willing to have the difficult conversation with your granny, auntie, cousin or whomever that you know is racist, but you let it slide because “it’s just who they are.” No, speak up!

Interesting thing happened today while I was jogging.
Today I ran a different route and as I ran up and down Hwy 29, and while I stopped to take a breath at 2 miles, this older White lady stopped at the light and yelled “Wes Bellamy, leave my statues alone you nigger!” (hard ER)
I was kind of startled, and just yelled back “You Mad” like Cam’Ron did in the Geraldo interview lol.
But in all seriousness, I’m not even surprised anymore. My family and I get death threats and hate mail every week. It’s par for the course at this point...
