Fun fact (well it's not actually fun) but the US is an extreme outlier when it comes to burials. Virtually everywhere else that has burials has only rented plots. Across Europe after a set number of years, they dig you up, dig deeper, rebury you and put a new grave on top.

Oddly enough Kathy Hochul did better than Cuomo in either of his reelection bids in New York's 20th Congressional District, which is located in the state's capital district. Though both significantly underran Dem pres nominees, who handily won this district from 2012-2020. I don't have the Obama numbers offhand but Biden carried it by 20% and I imagine Obama won it by about the same.

The NC Supreme Court ruling wouldn't have happened had Dems spent as much money on the two seats that were up last year as they did in the WI SC Race. North Carolina is an extremely winnable state for Democrats but the party must take it seriously. You can't expect a win if you're not willing to spend what it takes.

All 157 seats in the Mississippi House of Representatives are up this year. Just 14 will have both Democratic and Republican candidates running in the general election. Another 13 will have at least one major party candidate running against a third party candidate. It's deeply unhealthy for democracy when over 80% of seats go unconested.

Comparing swing district Dems to their GOP counterparts is just night and day. Elissa Slotkin carefully avoids associating with her party's left flank. Whereas someone like Molinaro has no problem cozying up to the right wing of his party.

it's why the class of 2018 Dems have largely succeeded. They've demonstrated sharp political instincts. Swing district Republicans on the other hand seem very comfortable sticking their hands in a blender.

Garbage disposal is one of my favorite topics because the future of it remains pretty bleak. Unfortunately there is little incentive to rethink how we get rid of things. Governor @jaredpolis came tantalizingly close to carrying Colorado's 5th District, which is located entirely within El Paso County. Bennet did 2% better than Biden here compared to his one point improvement. Rep. Doug Lamborn easily won reelection. @jaredpolis Lamborn took below 50% in his most recent primary. Definitely something to watch.

The future of NC if Mark Robinson becomes Governor is bleak. Companies and young professionals will look elsewhere because nobody wants to live in a state where the Governor believes millions of people should not have rights. Mark Robinson is an ardent anti-semite, homophobe, islamaphobe, sexist, and the list goes on. Anybody who supports him is a bad person. He is demonstrably unfit to hold office.

My neighbors had a couple huge trees chopped down and they're trying to get rid of the big chunks by .... burning them in their front lawn. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 I'm not an expert on trees but it strikes me as unwise to do being do this
