Music is an ecosystem.

Guestlists can:
📢 Be a thank you for helping to sell tickets
✍️ Help inform writing a feature read by 1000s
🖼 Become an iconic photo used on a record cover
🧦 The first coverage that leads to loads more media support, finding a team, getting signed… Having run a label for most of the 00s, we should perhaps add that guestlist tickets are often bought by record companies to ensure entry for media coverage — despite promoters, booking agents, managers, publishers, and the artist benefitting long after labels are involved.

Ever felt like our flourishing music industry, which contributed £5.2bn to the UK economy in 2018, has been thrown under the Brexit bus?

It’s a shame that, unlike fishing (worth £437m to UK economy in 2019) our industry isn’t a priority.

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has signed a letter demanding action from UK govt to ensure visa-free touring in the EU bbc.co.uk/news/entertain…

Previously... It’s worth noting that the Vote Leave campaign and their army of bots amplified Daltrey’s comments as an alternative to “so-called” “experts”

Disgraceful.

🇪🇺 EU offered a “standard” Visa-free touring exemption

❌ Tories rejected it due to @pritipatel’s immigration crackdown

🇪🇺 “It is untrue to say they asked for something more ambitious”

❌ due to Visas, some acts may no longer tour the UK
independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi… Wonder if Roger Daltrey’s g-g-generation will pay for some Visas so artists can tour europe in the future...?

“Ek’s saying that musicians need to look at themselves less as artists and more as content creators. We have no muse to serve but the marketplace, and without adhering to the rapid 💓 rate that is Spotify’s demand for new food for their algorithm, our careers are bound to perish” Let’s flip Spotify’s words:

“some streaming services that used to do well in the past may not do well in this future landscape, where you can't a (re)launch new groundbreaking music platform once every three to four years and think that’s going to be enough.” @eldsjal
