White people frequently like to celebrate black forgiveness because they conflate it w/ reconciliation, no accountability, & skirting repentance & repair, thereby keeping antiblack oppression in place. In essence, it is the refusal to seek justice. But I'm not against black forgiveness bc when it is genuine it is healing for oppressed people & I don't desire to become callous like oppressors. Forgiveness let's me release the bitterness inside that eats away at us. But we too sometimes conflate forgiveness & reconciliation.

When the average white person condemns white supremacy they are usually operating out of a narrow definition that targets extremist ideologies while excluding themselves, & the communities and social networks they participate in. They are only against the "mean & violent stuff." They have no intention of challenging institutional racism at the workplace, or discriminatory policy that blocks access to resources & opportunities, & certainly not the systemic organizing of society itself. Remember most of them live in, & prefer, majority white communities.
