In a small, remote village in northern Nigeria, lived a young girl named Aisha. Her family was poor, struggling to make ends meet through farming, which was often hindered by long dry seasons and unpredictable weather. Despite their hardships, Aisha had always been full of life. She was the brightest in her school, dreaming of one day becoming a nurse to help others in her village. But life had its own plans.
One evening, as the sun set over the dusty plains, Aisha began to feel unwell. At first, it was just a headache and some chills. By morning, her condition had worsened — she was burning with fever, shivering uncontrollably despite the oppressive heat. Her mother recognized the symptoms immediately: it was malaria, a disease that had claimed many lives in their village over the years.

Have you ever heard of endometriosis?
A condition that affects millions of women, yet so many suffer in silence 🤐
We are breaking the stigma and shed some light on what it really is, why it matters, and how it can be managed
A thread
What is endometriosis?
It is a health condition where tissue similar to the lining inside your uterus, called the endometrium, starts to grow outside the uterus
This can happen on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other parts of the pelvic area.
It's important to know that this tissue behaves like it would inside the uterus—it thickens, breaks down, and bleeds with each menstrual cycle.
However, because it has no way to leave the body, it gets trapped, leading to pain and other problems.
