I think this bit really needs a little expanding on because I feel like it doesn't get talked about a lot
Trans depictions that focus on the tragic aspects suck for a lot of reasons but it giving people that are discovering their transness an incorrect expectation is extra bad
For the longest time, I wanted to deny that I was trans because every piece of media and information I could find in the public consciousness said that it sucked, that it would be nothing but misery
And that made things worse for me for a long time

I got DM'd asking my thoughts on the trans discourse in TLOU2 and I figured I'd post it here too.
Spoilers for a bad plot thing in the game and very very basic discussion of Trans Suffering.
Cis people shouldn't try and write trans people if all they're going to write is the suffering and pain.
Trans people have the opportunity to relate the unique joys and experiences we can feel and should also take advantage of that when they write too.
