So this thread has raised some rather interesting points and attitudes.

Here’s our findings… A 5yr old child is riding his bike on the road in convoy with his father.

A car is approaching in the opposite direction.

In law, all have equal right to be on this road.

In the heirarchy of road users, the cyclist is graded higher because of their vulnerability.

Sometimes, as Police, we’re not allowed to be too forthright with our opinions.

However - there are times when we can cross that line.

And this is one of them…

Buckle up. We are proud to be part of @DurhamPolice - we are proud to Police our roads, we are proud of our work - and we love this area!

But a lot of that work can be avoided if the the #Fatal4 - and more - are observed…

So, as promised yesterday, here’s a thread on why we as the Police, along with many other agencies focus on the @fatal4uk as part of our road safety strategies.

Here goes.... Firstly, what even are the fatal 4? These are the most significant factors / omissions we find present in our analysis of collisions:

1. Speed
2. Driver distraction
3. No / improper seatbelts
4. Drink & / or drugs

Or a combination of all.
