I was a week in Senegal and spent a few days visiting the Sine-Saloum River Delta. This is not an exhaustive treaty on its sedimentology, just an impression.

The Sine-Saloum isn’t a big river, it’s only about 100 km from Kaolack to the coast. It’s just at the S edge of the Sahel Rainy reason here is Sept Oct, the rest of the yr it’s dry & hot (13N) β€”> hypersaline conditions.

Tide range is ca 1.75 max (AyeTides app): microtidal

The delta is formed by 2 rivers, the Saloum (N) & the Sine (S). over-exploitation took place: mangroves were cut β€”> erosion.

Today I was driving through Senegal. The cab driver fiddled with the radio and then I heard @CanadianPM @JustinTrudeau’s voice. The cab driver willingly left the dial at this station: Radio Senegal Internationale - a French language station (French & Wolof are πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡³ β€˜s 2 languages) This was an integral (unedited) broadcast of the PM’s speech & Q&A to/with a group of Senegalese university students. The broadcast lasted about an hour and because we had a long drive, we listened to the whole thing
